It had been another week and a half since the incident. Many people had passed but majority were ok. Not mentally, but physically. Lucas was ok too, he can't walk well at the moment but he will get through it. Sarah and Hayden Davis were disappointed when they arrived without Nadia but Davina wont stop until Nadia returns home.
Davina sat beside Lucas' resting bed in the doctors suit. The walls were a bright and the floor was white tiles. Just like a real hospital. Davina held Lucas' hand whilst he was sleeping. She rested her head on the edge of her bed when she heard Lucas wake up and she removed her hand from his before he could notice. But he did. She sat up straight.
"Hey. How are you?" She asks.
"Good... what were you doing?" He laughs. Davina slightly blushes. She had been beginning to think about Lucas in a romantic way ever since Eliot pointed it out. She didn't know why. Was it because Eliot seemed pissed at the idea of them together? Who knows.
"Nothing. Don't worry about it." Davina says trying to avoid the conversation.
"Okay then. I had the weirdest dream. It was about you and we ran away together and joined a circus." Lucas laughed, along with Davina.
"You could pull of being a clown, since you are like one already." Davina giggles. Lucas puts his hand to his chest exaggerating being hurt.
"You're so mean, Davina May." Lucas says, smiling.
"Please, compared to you I'm an angel." Davina smiles back.
"An angel from hell."
"See what I mean." Davina exclaims as she nudges his shoulder teasingly, causing him to wince. Her smile drops straight away,"Are you okay? I'm so sorry."
"You know, you say sorry to much." Lucas states. She never really thought about it that much, it was just instinct. She apologised again and she sat there with him talking for about an hour until she got sent back inside by a nurse so he could rest some more. She said her goodbyes and exited the building into the backyard.
There was some equipment for training and a large pool. Along with beautifully placed plants and flowers that go together like gin and tonic. The sun was setting after a lovely day. She turned to go inside through the back door which led into the living room, where her and Darcy first talked about the situation. She found Sarah and Hayden sitting next to each other watching a movie. Or trying to.
"Hey you two." Davina announces. They both smiled at her.
"Hey, how's Lucas?" Hayden asks, thankful to not have to try and distract himself with the movie.
"He's getting better, I got sent out so he could rest." Davina replies.
"Those damn nurses, should let you have more time. He could've died!" Hayden exclaims. Something tells Davina that the statement had double meaning. Davina quietly agreed and walked off. They both looked stressed and tired, she wished she could help but no words or actions could fix them except having their daughter back.
Davina walked into the large dark themed kitchen and grabbed an apple out of the fruit bowl. Once she took a bite she started to head back to her room when she ran into Andreas.
"Oh hey." Davina says, looking up at the Spanish guy.
"Hey Davina, was just heading back from the office." He says.
"Oh, any progress?" She asks.
"Unfortunately no. The Hartley mafia is a big threat to us, we wont stop working until their dealt with." Andreas declares.
"Good, let me know if you need any help. Good luck finding them." Davina says. They say goodbye and walk to wherever they were going. Davina takes another bite of her apple as she passes another person. Davina had been to shy to make other friends that weren't Darcy, Andreas, Sarah, Hayden, Nadia and Lucas. She was still friendly and loyal to them but could never work up the courage to change that into something more.
When she enters her room, the sun was now set and it was dark. She turned on the light and closed the door behind her. She travels to her window to close the curtains when she thought she saw someone. She stared a little longer but there was nothing, so she gave up and said to herself it was her imagination from these past few weeks. She closed her curtains but not her window since it had a nice breeze outside.
Davina jumped into bed without changing her clothes since she was already in her pyjamas. The only thing to do until she got tired was to go on her phone. She was watching random entertaining videos when she was interrupted by a sound of something light hitting the floor in front of her window. Davinas breathing sped up and her heart was racing. She was too scared to shine light over there but convinced herself it was no one and probably something just falling over. Davina got off her bed and traveled to where the sound was.
Surprisingly, it was just an envelope with a letter in it. She gently picked it up, curious as to what was inside. Her hands turned it around and on the front her name was written on it in cursive handwriting. She immediately opened it and found it was a note.
Dear my darling Davina May,
I thought a lot about your words and I no longer want to keep your friend, Nadia, here. Unfortunately I can't give her away that easily. If you want her to return home safely, I'd have to take you instead. Return to the warehouse tomorrow morning at 6am if you would like the exchange to go forward.
Go alone or else she dies
From your favourite,
Eliot HartleyDavinas heart went back to pounding and her breathing was shaky. This is it. The chance to bring Nadia back. Davina didn't even have to think about it. She'll go.
