Hyunjin was surprised. Things happened so fast, too fast for him to process. He just stood there watching the scene that unfolded infront of him.

The guard probably got two seconds to look at the two boys sitting in the room before Felix launched himself forward roundhouse kicking the weapon out of his hand and punching the guard right in the chest. The guard stumbled and collapsed on his back due to the impact and Felix took that chance to climb on top of him, holding him down.

With a sickening cracking sound the younger snapped the guard's head instantly killing him and stood up, brushing his hands off on his pants.

Hyunjin quickly regained himself and smiled at the boy.

that's my baby

"I guess fighting for my life in a murder game taught me a lot." He said as Hyunjin walked up to Felix helping him drag the body of the dead guard.

Hyunjin examined the guard's uniform to realize the man was also a guard from City 10.

They both looked at each other and smiled. The plan to escape just became two times easier. All Felix had to do was change into the uniform of the dead guard and place the man's body in the metal compartment instead of his own.

They were ordered to deliver the bodies to homes of those with a family to claim it.

Hyunjin checked the list that sat next to the entrance of the chamber. Nobody to claim any of the bodies meant all of them went straight to the wasteland to be burned. Even if a guard went missing they won't care because it's just one out of many and disappearing happened a lot.

maybe luck is really on our side

After they finished up with changing into the other uniform they sat back on the metal floor waiting for the shuttle to reach their home city.

"You always complained that you can't fight but look at you..." Hyunjin paused to ruffle the younger's hair earning a smile.

"I'm so proud of you."

And he meant every word he said. In a place he knew no one, without any prior practice in combat Felix fought to survive and succeeded. He managed to stay alive. He was one brave kid. He never knew Felix had this kind of side to him. His admiration towards the younger grew more as he remembered how Felix singlehandedly took down the guard a few minutes ago.

you could say he's delicate but dangerous
hyunjin thought, chuckling to himself at the thought

"Oh I almost forgot, I wanted to show you something." Felix watched, curious as Hyunjin rummaged through his pocket looking for something.

A few seconds later he produced a white folded handkerchief out of the view holding it carefully on his palm.

He smiled at Felix and undid the folds revealing an old dried flower. It was a small daisy. Judging by how a few petals were gone and the flower itself was turning into dust it had to be from a very long time ago.

Felix looked up at Hyunjin in confusion.

"Remember the first day we met? When I was about to kill myself by jumping off of the edge to the void... you saved my life." Felix's eyes widened.

it can't be

"You gave this to me that day. I somehow managed to press it under a book and save it up until now..."

Felix's eyes were welling up.

He remembered how he gave Hyunjin that flower hoping it would cheer him up because as a kid the only way to comfort was by either giving them candy or a small gift

so that's what Felix did, he plucked up the flower closest to him and gave it to the older boy hoping it'd make him happy

he had no idea that Hyunjin kept it with him until this day. He didn't know how he even managed to keep it for this long

Tears started to flow uncontrollably as he stared at Hyunjin who was now folding the handkerchief back up again putting it back into his pocket just as carefully as he took it out.

Hyunjin placed a hand on Felix's cheek wiping off the falling tears with his thumb delicately as if he was the flower itself.

"I just knew that you'd be someone very important in my life the moment I first met you. That's why I kept it." This only made Felix's sobs get louder.

He crawled up from the cold metal floor onto Hyunjin's lap wrapping his arms around Hyunjin's neck hiding his face in the embrace.

that small act made him feel like someone so important, someone who was worthy of being loved

"Have I ever told you how much of an idiot you are?" Felix said, lifting his head to look at Hyunjin who was still smiling brightly at him.

"You could say I'm a hopeless romantic." Hyunjin laughed wrapping his hands around Felix's small waist pulling him closer and leaving a lingering kiss.

They watched the morning sunrays disappear from the glass pane above them as time passed. Their surrounding was getting darker by the minute indicating that they were getting closer to home.

After what seemed about a few hours they felt the shuttle coming to a halt. Hyunjin glanced at the map on the screen next to him.

"Felix wake up we're here." The younger rubbed his eyes. Hyunjin helped him get back to his feet giving Felix's hand a light squeeze before putting on the mask to cover his face.

"We did it."

"We're finally home."
