"Allow me to introduce my main alchemist," Alfor said proudly. "Honerva."
Zarkon blinked as Honerva turned, smiling cheerfully at him. "It is my pleasure to be working with you."
"I've never seen an Erythian before," Zarkon said dumbly. "I - you're very elegant."
He cursed himself inwardly, but Honerva just laughed. She had dark red stripes along the sides of her face that crinkled when she smiled.
"Honerva is one of the best Erythian scientists in hundreds of years," Alfor said. "It was no question to bring her here to investigate this ... odd thing." He frowned at the glowing ore that had crashed on Altea's surface two movements ago.
"I - I have to go," Zarkon stuttered, then turned and stumbled off. Alfor blinked in surprise; he'd never seen his friend this ... flustered.
"He's nice," said Honerva.
Alfor chuckled. "'Nice' isn't usually a word to describe the emperor of the Galra."
"Well, I think so," Honerva replied, turning to him. "Why did you want to see me, anyways?"
"It's about the ore." Alfor gestured to the hunk of rock that sat before them. "When I discovered it, I ... I felt this flash of energy. It was strange, but I think the comet was ... communicating with me."
Honerva's eyes widened. "Fascinating. What did it say?"
"That's the thing. It didn't say anything. It gave me an image." Alfor scratched his chin. "Of these ... lions. Five of them, different colors, but ... there was something else. A white lion. I think that before this comet crashed into our reality, it was the white lion."
"So what is the white lion?"
Alfor, troubled, gazed at the ore. "I don't know."

Kova's tail curled around Honerva's leg, but she ignored him, watching the battle above her. The lions - Voltron - were fighting the beast, the darkness that had come from the rift.
But the lions.
They were beautiful, and Honerva couldn't take her eyes off them. She felt drawn to them in a way she couldn't explain; it was if she and the lions were one.
The black lion - the head of Voltron - took a hit, and Honerva winced. Are you okay?
Strangely, a surge of warmth flooded through her, coming from the black lion - like a reassurance that yes, it was okay. Honerva smiled despite the battle waging around her.
Being Erythian, she could sense the energy coming off of Voltron; it was amazing. Her powers remained dormant, as she wasn't a strong-blooded Erythian. Besides, only the royal line used their power to fight. The rest of the Erythians had mere droplets of power, usually healing or reviving. Honerva was a rare case - her powers allowed her to unlock things no alchemist had ever discovered before.
Voltron struck the swarm of darkness with a mighty blow, and it disintegrated. From her spot in the shelter of the palace, Honerva's lips curled into a smile.
-
"Tell me more about Erythia," Zarkon said, leaning towards Honerva. They were sitting by the trees in the garden, eating lunch; Zarkon had offered to keep her company, and Honerva found she enjoyed it. "Is it true that Erythians could summon swords or pure light?"
