Ran's POV...

I visited her daily after practice. The team stopped by once to check up on her and wish her full recovery. AVC is fast approaching and my hope for Aya seeing my matches are dwindling. Higurashi-san told me that her vitals are great. Her scans are showing up normal and her surgery incision is healing up well.

Three days before the competition, I visited for the last time this week since the team will be heading to Chiba the next day. I stayed by her side the whole day, talking to her... telling her how excited I am about the competition, but that I will be missing her while playing.

"I won't be able to visit until our day off on the 15th... wait for me until then, ok? I'll win the first 3 matches for you" I told her, "and hopefully... you'll be able to join me on the second half of the tournament"

One of her brothers then entered, Kenzo. He looked at me and nodded. We never really had a proper talk since she he got back.

"Takahashi" I heard him say. I looked up at him and waited for him to continue.

"I just wanted to say thank you for taking care of Aya. I know we've never really see each other eye to eye, but when it comes to her, we both want the same thing. I know papa already gave you his blessings.. I saw the rings, Aya asked me if I'll give you my blessings, he didn't ask the others."

Shit. Is he going to say no? If he does, well.. fuck. I don't think I'll be able to handle that.

"Aya told me before that you're her favorite brother. That you're the one who pushed her to pursue volleyball. You taught her how to be strong and independent," I told him, remembering that time they had a fight.

"I've always thought it was Daisuke since they're personality is close" he replied.

"Thanks for making her happy, Takahashi. I haven't seen her smile as bright as she did during your vacation whenever we facetimed for a short chat. Take care of her, alright?" he told me, patting my shoulder. I nodded.

I left the hospital at the end of visiting hours, promising Aya that I will be back as soon as I can.

Aya's POV...

I can hear him.. he's next to me. Everyday he's here. I can feel him hold my hand. I want to see him, but I'm just so tired.. I've tried to open my eyes multiple times but it's just so hard. I heard Yuki-senpai talk to me as well. My brothers and dad, Mrs. Higurashi...

Ran visited me one last time before heading to AVC. I won't be able to watch his matches. Damn this weak body of mines. Wake up, damn it. Wake the fuck up, Aya.

I'm not sure what time it was when I heard someone talking to me. It was one of the nurses, she was one of the talkative ones.

"Good evening, sweetheart, I hope you had a nice day today. I heard your handsome boyfriend visited you again," she said.

"You're doing great, by the way, everyone's just waiting for you to wake up"

Easy for you to say, you're not the one in whatever condition I'm in. I tried to move something... anything... then I felt it, my muscles responding..

"Ohh, sweetheart.. I saw that, move your finger again.."

I tried again..

"There we go.."

I tried to move something else and next thing I know I'm looking at the ceiling, then a lady came into view.

"Welcome back, Higurashi-san..."

I tried to speak but my mouth was so dry. She quickly got a cup of ice chips and helped me sit up.

"I'll go ahead and call the doctor, ok?" the nurse said, I just nodded.
