My Olympics journey just ended. We were not able to make it to the quarterfinals. I tried my very best to help the team, but there's plenty of room for improvement. Devastated. Heartbroken. We did our best, but the other teams did better.
The men's team did make it to quarterfinals after a heated match against Iran. I debated whether to stay in the village to watch their quarterfinals match against Brazil or just go home. I did end up staying and so did Mayu-senpai.
I haven't talked to Ran, not yet. I just don't know if I'm ready to hear that he's found someone else. I'm not entirely sure what I did or what I didn't do that made him look for someone else. I'm hoping for a better outcome, hoping that there's a reason on why he did what he did, but as time passes by it just gets harder.
It was their quarterfinals match day. I woke up early and decided to do a lap around the village. After the short run, I went to the dining hall to grab breakfast, Mayu-senpai was still sleeping at the time. As I was waiting in line, someone tapped my shoulder, I turned to see who it was and it was her. She was smiling at me. She's pretty and tall and slim. Quite the opposite of me.
"Can I help you?" I asked, hoping she speaks Japanese.
"Not really, I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Park Ae-Ri" she said in perfect Japanese, slight Korean accent though.
"Yeah, I know who you are" it's way too early to be dealing with this.
"I'm not sure if you spoke with Ran-kun yet" she started.
Ran-kun huh, that's how close they got already? I turned around, rude as it is I'm really really not in the mood to have a chitchat with her.
"Aya-san" she said.
I turned back to her, "It's Higurashi-san, I don't think I've known you long enough for you to be using my first name"
"Sorry, but I just wanted to clear things up between Ran-kun and I" she said.
"Park-san, can you please not intrude yourself into people's business? Oh wait, a little too late for that, you already did intrude yourself between my relationship with Ran. So, the least you can do right now is back off" I told her. I know, it's rude and harsh, but it's 7 in the morning, it's too early for this shit.
She did back off and left. Good, I can have breakfast in peace. As I was finishing my plate, Mayu-senpai decided to join. She still looks sleepy.
"Good morning" I greeted.
"Yeah, yeah, I don't even know why I'm up this early, it's not like we have a practice or a match" she said, "Also, that American guy from before was looking for you"
"What American guy?"
"The one from Rimini"
Just as she said that, I heard someone call my name. I turned to look to see who it was, the American guy.
"Higurashi-san, can I please take a selfie with you? We are leaving tomorrow and I'm a big fan" he said in broken Japanese.
"Sure" I nodded.
He had to bend down a little in order for us to take a selfie since he was over 6ft.
"Do you have instagram?" he asked.
Technically, I do, but it's my private instagram account, so I shook my head.
"No, I'm sorry"
"That's okay, but if you ever get one, please add me" he said. I nodded and took a photo of his Instagram username.
"Thank you, Higurashi-san" he said before leaving.
"Look at you, having a fan outside Japan" Mayu-senpai teased.
