I feel pretty meh about this chapter. Seems filler-y. But I enjoyed the texting bit. I don't know why.

Should these notes be at the end of the chapter? Probably.

Whatever.

There are bits that I really liked and bits that I was okay with.

Anyway, comment and let me know what you think <3. Preferably don't hate it.

SAGE

The love that this family had for each other was in abundance. That was for sure.

They were also a very good looking family. I thought Kane and Cole were hot. Their parents looked how I could only hope I would at their age.

Mrs. Adams' dark skin was flawless. She had been cooking when I barged in on them. Maybe all that steam gave her some extra glow. I was struck by her dark eyes and features. She had a bone structure that would make models green with envy. Delicate, was a word that came to mind. Her curly hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail. She looked like she was modelling the apron she was wearing.

I had to remember to pick my jaw off the floor when she greeted me. She was warm and motherly and her eyes shone with love when she  looked at Kane.

Mr. Adams had arrived much later, just as we were laying the table. He wore a suit  that showed off his broad shoulders and it was difficult not to appreciate the tailoring of his vest. Having a father who was so anal about his own suits had trained our eyes to catch details. His salt and pepper hair gave him a very dignified look. He too was handsome with a straight nose and full lips. His grey eyes sparkled with mirth. The laugh lines on his face and the wrinkles near his eyes filled me with a sense of comfort I couldn't explain.

"Are you checking my dad out?" Kane asked and I blushed.

"How are all of you so freaking good looking." I whispered, not missing the tilt of his lips.

It was when Kane was introducing me to his father that Cole came down the stairs looking effortlessly handsome in his own right. I felt my face heat as he grinned at me, thinking back to him walking in on a very  intimate moment between Kane and I. I resisted the urge to touch my lips.

A moment that  might never come again. It was a moment of weakness, for both him and I. But the feeling of his lips against mine would forever be etched into my memory.

We were all sat at the table as Mrs. Adams went around serving the meat and mashed potatoes.

"She's pulled out her good table cloth and mats for you and is worried we might ruin it." Cole said, winking at me. I smiled in understanding, my mother was not too different.

"So Sage, how is it that you convinced Kane to bring you home?" His father  asked me.

Before I could explain, Cole said, "Mum's already planning the wedding."

"I wish." I said out loud before I could stop myself.

The table went completely silent. My eyes flew from one face to the next in panic.

"I...I mean-" I stammered not knowing how to save myself. I looked to Kane for help but he too seemed to have been frozen.

The silence seemed to drag on forever, no one knowing what to say. Cole  just smirked as he let me flounder.

I dropped my fork and knife on my plate and hung my head.

"I'm sorry. That was a mistake." How did I manage to muck up before dinner had even properly begun?
