Hey Kids!
Sorry, I took so long. It's been a busy month. I can't tell what song would go with this chapter. But I'll link the one I was listening to.
I hope you enjoy this chapter. <3

KANE
Consciousness buzzed me back to life. There was a pounding in my head and I mentally checked to feel if there was any nausea. None that I could detect. I blinked slowly, my vision a little hazy before everything cleared.
Sage.
A rush of fear flooded through me as I looked up. She was there. A few feet in front of me. She was tied to a chair. Her mouth had been taped shut and tears streaked her cheeks. Her eyes were red from crying. I examined her body for signs that she's been hurt. Other than the bruise on her face there was nothing. Her long dark hair was a tumbling mess on her shoulders.
I struggled to move to realise I had been tied down much like she was.
She was right there. If I could just get to her. I pulled against my binds, growls erupting from my throat from the effort.
I felt a hand stroking my hair and I froze. It was a feeling that was much too familiar to me.
"Don't struggle kid, you should know better than anyone that I'm like quicksand." The rasp trickled over me like a nightmare. I saw Sage pull against her binds as she watched us.
I swallowed hard. This was not what it used to be. I was no longer strapped down to my past. And now there was someone I needed to protect. She was more important than anything else.
Eric emerged from behind her. His features twisted into a sick smile. He bent down to sniff her hair and something ugly reared in my stomach. It was the first time I felt the need to kill someone. And I had plenty of opportunities to foster a desire like that. But watching her wince made me want to wrap my hands around his throat until he turned blue.
He ripped off the tape on her mouth and she cried out my name. It was like a knife to the chest. His eyes flared with anger and he backhanded her, eliciting a shocked moan from her.
I growled, fury unfurling in my chest. I craned my neck to face Grubb. He read the look in my eyes and chuckled. He ripped the tape off my mouth and I hissed at the sting.
I looked at Eric. He was facing Sage, bending down and whispering something to her.
"You better hope I don't get free. I'm going to reach down your throat and pull out your heart." I seethed.
He spun to face me and the insanity in his eyes surprised me. I always knew there was something wrong with him. But now he didn't hide that he'd gone completely mad.
"Oh lookie!" He exclaimed. "Frank's finally here." He said, using his nickname for me.
Grubb came to stand in front of me.
"What do you want?" I asked him.
He twirled his dagger in his hand, making my throat go dry. My old friend.
"My pound of flesh." He smiled, his teeth glinting.
"Then take it," I said. "I'll give you whatever you want. I won't fight you. But you have to let her go. You know she's innocent. She has nothing to do with this. If you protect her keep her from him, I'll do whatever you need."
