"One more story"

The mother holding her child finally set him down upon his bed, tucking him in gently before planting a small kiss upon his forehead.

"No more stories sweetheart, it's much too late" she told her son, brushing his hair from his eyes.

The mother watched as the boys eyes saddened, feeling a small part of her heart break. So she sat down next to her child, wrapping her arm around his shoulder.

"But I suppose a song wouldn't hurt"

The boy gave a small smile to the statement, shifting so that his head laid against his mother's chest.

She began to hum an old lullaby, stroking her child's hair softly with her fingers. She watched as his eyes began to heavy, a sign he was getting tired.

The mother continued her song, giving one last hum before getting up.

The boy watched as his mother let out a small cough, before looking back to her child, smiling as if to dismiss it.

And the boy was much too sleepy to worry.

"Goodnight mama" he yawned, settling his head further to the pillow.

The mother bent down to give one final peck to her child's head, being the covers of the sheets to drape over the child's shoulders.

"Good night Aesop"

Aesop woke to the sound of rain pattering against his window. It must've been quite early in the morning seeing as it was still dark outside. He let out a soft yawn as he turned in his bed, not wanting to get up just yet.

But his eyes simply wouldn't shut. He sighed as he stood up, looking out the window in his room.

Eli's conversation of the stars a few nights prior played back in his head. But no stars were out, only the small drops of rain that clung to the old glass outside.

It brought him back to when he decided to arrive here at the manor. How he let something as simple as a change in weather decide his fate.

Perhaps there was more to it that he wasn't aware of.

He reached his hand out to touch the glass window, letting his bare finger run along the smooth glass, following the drops of precipitate.

Maybe this was another sign of change. Something new today.

He walked from the window to his bathroom, turning on the shower and letting the water heat.

The Embalmer undressed himself, setting his clothes to the doors side as he stepped in. He let the hot water run through his hair down his body, as if to wash away any worries.

What a silly thing he heard others so desperately believe. After all it was just a shower.

Nonetheless he continued to wash over his body, finally turning the water off and drying himself with a soft towel.

He redressed himself in the appropriate attire needed for the day, before sitting down at his desk.

Aesop pulled a book he had gotten from the manors library out of one of the drawers and began to read.

Although he was no fan of romantic novels, he never considered the tale of star crossed lovers to be one.

Eli listened as the girl gave out a small laugh.

"I don't believe you" she giggled, giving the mans arm a small push.

Eli laughed alongside her.
