HNS Takedown

Chapter 3

The next morning I put on my normal workout clothes and left to go to Marias.
We did our normal routine which consisted of me punching a punching bag and doing flips (you get the idea).
In between all of that Miles kept ringing me, in the end I answered.
“What do you want?” I asked “what I want is to know what the f*** happened yesterday!” he said, “yeah well right now i’m working out and I’d like to finish it in peace so how about when I am home, have had a shower and we can talk about this like adults?” I told him “but we aren’t adults” he muttered “well we either do it that way or you don’t find out what happened!” I snapped hanging up after wids.
“Boyfriend?” Maria asked “yup” I replied.
“Right” she said “I want you to finally meet the crew”, I nodded and followed her down the stairs and into her basement.
“Can I have everyone's attention” Maria called out, heads lifted from computers and looked my way “this is the assassin herself” I scanned the room and the first person I saw was Ben, I was shocked and I think he was too.
He stood up and made his way towards me.
“You!?” I said “working for mine and the world's benefit”, “hey you’re the assassin” he said matter of factly.
I rolled my eyes, “well I have to get home otherwise Miles will spam me over text” I said to Maria, but it was Ben that spoke “he wants to know what happened yesterday doesn’t he?” “yes he does” I replied “and are you going to tell him?” Ben asked “he has been my best friend ever since I moved in next door to him, he has a right to know” I said and Ben nodded “fair enough”.
I said goodbye and drove home in silence, not even singing along to the radio.

I made it home and when I got out of the car I headed straight inside without even checking the front window of Miles’s house to see if he was there.
I had a shower and put on some clothes before heading out into the living room and low and behold there was Miles sitting on the couch.
He looked at me and I looked at him.
Then I went and sat next to him and looked at Daniel giving him the signal to ‘clear off’.
“Right” said Miles “if it’s a long story you might want to start explaining”.
I took a deep breath “firstly, Daniel and Paul are not my real family” I said “I am adopted”, Miles looked shocked “what did happen to your real family” he asked, I looked at him, I could feel tears welling in my eyes, “they were shot dead by the HNS” I replied letting the tears roll down my face, “I had a 7 year old sister and a 11 year old brother, plus my parents” I said.
He rubbed my back as I cried “there was an HNS member at school yesterday, that’s who was shooting” I told him “who is HNS?” he asked calmly “it stands for Hidden National Shooters, they are trying to kill off the population in New Zealand, and I am the assassin that is trying to take them down”, “wait did you say assassin?” “Yes, I have been killing the shooters,” I said, and he looked stunned.
After that I explained to him how I could speak fluently in Spanish and who Maria was, and why I had been training and of course about the 2.5billion dollars I had.
“So you’re trying to save everyone?” he asked, I nodded and leaned back into the couch hugging my legs.
He moved closer to me and leaned his head on my shoulder and then I leaned my head on his head.
Then there was a knock on the door, I stood up to answer it and Ben stood there, “perfect timing” I said “I needed to talk to you guys about something”.
Ben sat down on the couch in front of me and Miles.
“Now, I have secured a house down Broadlands drive and I wanted to know if you guys wanted to move in with me”.
“I’m down” said Miles “same here” said Ben “but how much do we have to pay?” “good question” I said “I was thinking for the first year I’ll make it free, but you do have to help keep the place clean, and the reason I’m saying this is because you guys don’t have a job, so over the next year you’ll have to get a job,” I said.
“I’m all good with that” said Miles “same” said Ben.
“Great, I’m moving in next week so you can just move in whenever”.
We talked a bit longer about boring financial stuff then Ben declared he was heading home, so we said our goodbyes as he left.
“What now?” asked Miles “I don’t know” I said standing up and stretching my tight limbs, I then ran my fingers through my hair and started to my bedroom to brush it.
I looked in the mirror and saw Miles behind me, he put his arms around my waist and placed his chin on my shoulder “you alright?” he asked “yeah, just tired” I replied “it’s been a crazy couple of days” .
He didn’t reply, so I turned around, wrapping my arms around the back of his neck and placed my forehead against his.
Our lips found their way to each other and we started kissing.
I could feel him running his hands up under my shirt, touching my bare skin.
I made a noise in the back of my throat and he kissed me harder, I looped my fingers through his hair and moved my mouth over his.
Then the door opened and Daniel stood there “hey Celine  do you know-”, me and Miles broke apart, my cheekbones were flushed pink.
“Sorry did I interrupt something?” he asked, raising an eyebrow “yeah you did” said Miles who had his arms crossed over his chest, Daniel rolled his eyes “Celine  do you know where dad is?” 
“He might be in his office” I suggested “cool I’ll check there” he said, before leaving and closing the door.
“I should probably head home,” said Miles. “I’ll have to bring up the ‘moving out’ thing with my parents” I nodded and hugged him before he left.
That night I had the best sleep I’d ever had, like I’d finally lifted a heavy weight off my shoulders.
