So, Thalia is totally not in love with Rachel Dare. She really, really isn't. It's a total misunderstanding. The problem is that nobody wants to take the time to understand. For an entire two fucking years. Her entire friend group thinks she is just head over fucking heels for her. But she isn't. In any way, shape, or form. No matter what Leo, Kelp Head, or Will think.

"You're never going to get to date her if you don't actually talk to her."

Thalia huffs in annoyance and slams her locker shut. "I'm really not in the mood today Perce."

"Gods, Pinecone, what's gotten into you?" Percy grumbles as he balances a pre-calc book on his fingertips.

"Nuthin. My head is just killing me and I don't need this shit before trig."

"Oh come on." Percy smiles. "You're a total babe, Pinecone. She'd be an absolute fool not to date you. You're Thalia fucking Grace!" He slaps a hand over her back in what Thalia assumes is meant to be a supportive way.

"Whatever, Perce." Thalia shrugs his hand off and walks to math without another word.

Thalia is awful with numbers; they make her head spin, and she just can't figure them out. Also, proving a triangle is a triangle? Why the fuck would she even need that in the real world? The only reason she's even passing this class is because her wrestling coach is friends with the woman who teaches it.

It also doesn't help that she is kinda, sorta, always distracted during this particular class.

Her day slightly improved when she sees Nico, the ghost king himself, meaning he had shown up to class for once. Thalia slumps in the seat next to him and they do their 'super secret handshake'.

"How's it going, Thalia?" Nico asks in feigned disinterest.

"I'm about to die, man, you don't understand." Thalia answers, burying her face in her palms.

Nico chuckles lowly, earning a deep glare from Mrs. Dodds, who is already into her long winded lecture about the pythagorean theorem.

"You'd better get in shape for tryouts next week, though. You may be one of Coach Hedge's favorites, but you still need to work at it." As per usual, Thalia is reminded that, although Nico didn't love to show it, he was interested in his friends' lives.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it-"

"Mr. Di Angelo and Ms. Grace, I will take this moment to remind you that we are in a classroom, and participation is both expected and demanded. If you find yourself unable to refrain from constant chatter, I will not hesitate in separating you."

"Yes ma'am." Nico salutes, and Thalia nods in agreement.

As Mrs. Dodds turns around, though, Nico mutters under his breath. "She's in a splendid mood today."

"Yeah, today and every other day." Thalia shoots back sarcastically.

This earns a loud laugh from the normally quiet boy, and causes Mrs. Dodds to turn around yet again.

"Mr. Di Angelo, pick up your things and stand up this instant."

Nico doesn't dare disobey and picks up his notebooks, waiting for Mrs. Dodds to assign him a new seat.

Mrs. Dodds scans the room before making up her mind. "Reyna, be a dear and switch seats with Mr. Di Angelo, please."

Thalia's head jerks up. Oh fuck no. Fuck. No.
