"Someone's happy this morning."
Henrietta spoke to Thalia, who had been humming a tune to herself all morning as they'd been cleaning their weapons. She'd also been smiling a lot more for someone who'd almost tried bribing Apollo to hop on the sun chariot a little later on the weekends.
Thalia shrugged and continued wiping down a dagger, attempting to keep a neutral face. It didn't work; the smile reappeared in a few seconds. She may have just been having a good morning, but there was something... different. There was a glow to her that wasn't normally present. Really, the only time someone was this deliriously happy was when... Henrietta smirked to herself.
"Did you get laid last night, Lieutenant?"
The humming stopped and so did Thalia's cleaning efforts; the dirty rag paused in its movements.
"Henny, that's ridiculous. Of course I didn't."
Henrietta laughed. "You can tell me!"
"I didn't! What makes you think that?"
"One," she began counting on her fingers, "you're weirdly happy and we all know you're not a morning person." Thalia scoffed at that as Henrietta continued her list. "Two, your rings aren't on and you almost never take them off--"
"How do you know I didn't just take them off to protect them from the dirty weapons?" Thalia brandished the dagger at her.
"And three," Henrietta interjected, pausing to laugh before gesturing towards Thalia's neck, "You're not doing as great a job hiding those hickeys as you think you are."
"What?!" Thalia scrambled for the sword that was leaning on the shed beside her, it's now-shiny reflection allowing her to inspect her neck. A blush colored her cheeks as she took in the plethora of small red and pink marks.
Henrietta could hear a whisper of "I told her no marks" from the girl opposite her. She laughed again and put down the sword she'd just finished cleaning.
"I mean, I'm happy for you." At Thalia's glare, she clarified. "Seriously, congrats! It looks like you and Reyna both enjoyed yourselves."
At the mention of Reyna's name, Thalia looked at her in alarm. "How'd you know it was her?"
"Really Thalia? You've wanted to get with Reyna forever; there's no one else it could have been."
Thalia shrugged her agreement as another smile bloomed on her face."So... was it good?" Henrietta was curious.
Thalia looked at her, affronted. "I am not having this conversation with you! Nope, I'm leaving." Thalia stood up from the barrel she'd been sitting on and walked out of the tent.
"Going to see Reyna, no doubt!" Henrietta called after her.
She only laughed when Thalia flipped her off as she walked away.
___Reyna had decided to take the morning off and simply bask in the fact that she had finally spent a night with Thalia. Seeing her in the bed next to her that morning had been almost unreal, as if it were another dream rather than real life.
The subject of her thoughts appeared in front of her as Reyna turned away from her bed. She was a bit surprised when she saw a hint of anger on Thalia's face.
"Hi Thals." Reyna said simply, smiling as she looked at her; red marks decorated Thalia's neck, a sign of Reyna's handiwork.
Thalia sighed and grabbed her hand. "Reyna, we said no marks, remember?"
"Hey, I'm not the only one who broke that rule!" Reyna pulled her long hair to the side, revealing dark spots on her skin where Thalia had shown her some extra attention.
This held Thalia's eye for a few moments, her girlfriend obviously reveling in the sight.
"Okay," Thalia said, her voice a bit deeper than usual, "touche. But we still can't be going around with-" she lowered her voice to a whisper, "hickeys on us. This is new for both of us and I don't want all the other Hunters in on our business. We're a pretty gossipy group, y'know?"
Reyna nodded. "Are you angry with me?"
Thalia looked at her and exhaled at the satirical pout on Reyna's face. "No, not angry. Besides," she said, looking down at Reyna's neck again, "I suppose some hickeys are okay... as long as we cover them up." She bit her lip as she continued gazing at Reyna's chest.
Reyna smirked and lifted Thalia's chin so she could meet her eyes. "Good." She stated. "It's not like you could ever be mad at me for long anyways."
Thalia gaped and turned away dramatically, laughing as Reyna pulled her back in for a kiss.
"By the way," Thalia spoke in between kisses, "Henrietta knows."
"I figured." Reyna responded. "She probably knew before we did."
By the knowing look Henrietta gave Reyna at lunch that day, she probably did.
