chapter 19: the dresses

the run up to the masquerade ball was all anyone could think about. it plagued everyone's minds every second of every day; it would be a miracle if you could go a full lesson without someone sparking up the conversation centred around the ball. As the ball loomed closer, the pressure to find a date and the right dress was overwhelming. Luckily their was a few dress shops in Hogsmeade that made finding the right dress that much easier; but as for the date... all anyone could do was hope.  

Today the students of Hogwarts were all planning on going to Hogsmeade for the final time before the ball. Mia and Hermione quickly ditched the boys to do some last minute dress shopping as they really didn't need Ron's input on weather the dress was too dark or light, too shinny or dull, he really would just find a way to make the process a whole lot longer then complain as to why it was taking so long. 

"any dress in particular you're looking for?" Hermione asked as they made their way down the streets of Hogsmeade, "black, Audrey Hepburn cross Evelyn Hugo, glamorous, kind of poufy type thing," Mia smiled as they arrived at the dress shop, "what about you?"

"something s quite modest, not glittery but with something nice like flowers but not grandma flowers," replied Hermione as they made their way into the dress shop.

the dress shop was packed with students from Hogwarts all disparately trying to find the right dress. "Hello, hello!" a plump woman waddled over to them, "I'm Mandy and I presume you are looking for a dress and mask for the masquerade ball, yes?" both he girls nodded, "good, good. so brows around its one size fits all so they are charmed to fit you perfectly so none of that awkward sizing confusions and all dresses have a matching masks so no need to worry about that," she continued with a bright smile on her face, "if their is anything in particular you want let me know and I'll probably have it. Is their anything you wanted?"

Hermione glanced at Mia then said, " I just want a modest yet stunning dress where as my friend Mia would like a black, poufy, glam dress. do you think you have anything like that?"

"oh my dears!" she exclaimed, "of course I have something like that! now follow me,"

Mandy wove in and out of other customers and led the girls to a stunning black dress, "now that is for you my dear," she said handing Mia the dress. "and this is for you," she handed Hermione a purple dress. [photos of the dresses at the end of the chapter]

"now if you hold them up next to you in the mirror you can see what you look like wearing them, so much easier than changing rooms."

Mia and Hermione made their way over to the mirror and held up their dresses, as Mandy hurried away to help the next few girls who entered the shop. in an instant the mirror changed to reveal them wearing their chosen dresses. "they look beautiful," Mia whispered; "Correction," Hermione whispered back, "WE look beautiful." After a few more seconds of staring in the mirror they joined the back of the que to pay.

After what felt like an eternity waiting they finally made it to the front of the que and payed for their respected dresses and masks. they decided to grab a quick butterbeer before heading back to the castle.

A/N: well hello again, its been five months and im back probs not for long but who knows. i havent re read my other chapters so if this doesnt fit someone please tell me thanks. also comment vote do all that jazz cos why not. it is a shorter chapter cos im supost to be doing homework but i got destracted and i decided to do this instead so yeahhh. anyways have a lovley day or night or whatever.
