chapter 2: return of friends

The clock struck five and once more the walls of Hogwarts filled with excited chatter from its returning pupils. The door to the great hall swung open and filled with kids excitedly rushing over to their house table. Mias eyes scanned the great hall in search of her friend, 'where could she be?' thought Mia. "MIA!" a loud scream echoed the halls. "TASMIN!" Mia cried out with as much enthusiasm as her friend. Tasmin had a nose like a cartoon character, or one drawn by a lazy artist at least. The bridge was so low-profile as to be barely there at all, the only thing that gave it away was a small bump that she got when she broke her nose in quidditch practice.The girl had golden blond hair from root to tip, Mia didn't know what was brighter her hair or her personality. She had soulful blue eyes as bright as any glacier yet so very warm. The two girls ran to each other engulfing themselves in a huge hug. "I've missed you so much," Tasmin said, still refusing to let go of Mia from the hug. "I've missed you too," Mia replied. The girls stood there for a while refusing to let each other out of the tight hug. "Tazzy?" Mia said, "maybe we should go to our table, people are staring at us," Tasmin looked around then her and Mia dropped out of the hug. "Good idea," Tazzy replied with a smile on her face. The girls walked hand in hand back to the hufflepuff table and sat down in their usual spot. "Soooo?" Tazzy started, "how did you manage to stay alive while i was gone?" Mia let out a quick giggle at Tasmins statement "honestly I don't know," Mia said and the two girls let out a laugh. "No but seriously-" Tazzy started, "you being serious? Are you okay?" Mia sarcastically teased as she rested her hand on Tazzy forehead, "I think you are coming down with something... it's called ticklishness-itus," Mia said in a concerned voice as her pitched raised. "Wait wha-" Tasmin was cut off by Mia relentlessly tickling her! Tasmin let out a squeal before dropping into a contagious laughter. Once Mia eventually stopped tickling her best friend she too let out a joyful (bored line evil) laugh. "N-never do that again," Tazmin stuttered in between her fit of giggles. "I can't promise anything," Mia said whilst a smirk grew on her face. Tazmin gave her friend a playful shove as the girls broke into a fit of laughter once more.

"Hello guys," a voice from behind both of the girls said. "CEDRIC!" the girls screamed. Cedric was an extremely handsome boy with mysterious cloudy gray eyes and brown wavy hair, messily arranged on his head. Cedric was two years older than the girls however he has known Mia from when he started Hogwarts since she was always running round the castle. From the moment that he met the girls he decided to take them under his wing and became like a big brother to them. Both girls quickly turned around and dragged Cedric into a large hug. "I've missed you guys too," Cedric said while laughing at the girl's enthusiasm. "So how was your summer?" Tazzy asked inquisitively "it was alright, my sister spent most of her time at the Weasleys house so she left me alone but i got to hang out with my mates most days so that's good i guess." Cedric said whilst still smiling. "Why was your sister at the Weasleys?" Mia asked "Well she is best friends with the twins and wanted to get a head start on planning pranks," he looked down at the floor "and my grandma came over for a week or two and you know what she thinks of Elizabeth." Mia and Tazzy looked at Cedric with sympathy you see the Diggory family had adopted Elizabeth from a rich pure blood family when she was seven when her parents died mysteriously before there trial for being death-eaters, no one dared ask questions about the girls past because more likely than not you would take a trip to the hospital wing. Cedric's family didn't approve of Amos adopting Elizabeth however Amos had a kind heart and did the right thing, however that doesn't stop Cedric's grandma having a go at Elizabeth so they decided it was best for her to not be around for family dinners.

"Anyway, how was your guy's summer?" Cedric swiftly changed the topic from himself. "Mine was good except for my weird next door neighbor who kept inviting over that loony Lovegood girl," Mia hit her best friend's arm, "don't call her that she is quite sweet you know," Mia retorted. "I know but she is a bit weird with a quibbler and nargle bull shi-" Mia slapped her hand over her friends mouth. "No, the girl is nice, sure she is a bit..." Mia looked to Cedric for help, "unconventional," Cedric replied "yes, but that doesn't make her a bad person!" Mia said rage bubbling through her veins. "okay , okay i take it back, have mercy on me please!" Tazzy joked, however Mia was still quite annoyed with her friend. "Anyway who is your next door neighbor?" Cedric asked, "this second year gryffindor half-blood girl called Olivia Lupin," Tazzy answered. "Lupin? Why does that name ring a bell?" Mia questioned "no clue it just seems like a generic name to me," Tazzy said casually, "ye must be," Mia said. Lupin, why does that name ring a bell? Had she heard it before or did she just make it up? Mias thoughts were interrupted by Cedric asking about her summer. "Well you know same old same old," Mia answered, "sleeping till noon, talking to the house elf's while getting food then staying up till two in the morning singing and dancing to muggle music." her friends laughed, why did that not surprise them. Truth be told if you had to guess what Mia was doing nine times out of ten it would involve her listening to muggle music or dancing around her room using her hairbrush as a microphone. This was one of the many things her friends loved about Mia, her pure kayos and they wouldn't change it for the world. Mia, Tasmin and Cedric continued to talk before Cedric was ushered over for his prefect duties since over the summer he got a letter saying that he was the fifth year male prefect. The girls said their goodbyes to him then they continued to talk. Their conversation lasted a while before Dumbledore silenced everyone before the first years arrived.
