I dedicate this chapter to my truest reader, Weirdo_96000, who waited for this since I said I would write this book. Here I present: ✨The CHAOS✨

3rd POV

The next day, since the sun rose up and everyone was out of their beds, Christine couldn't help but notice a weird change in Maya's behaviour. She acted like she was nervous about something to come. Christine had known that Maya was stressed about the journey, but for the past three days everything had seemed to be normal. And now suddenly, in span of one night Maya's mood had somehow shifted and she was less stressed and more positively excited.

Christine decided to find out the reason for that already during breakfast. The dining site was up on the deck, under a small roof and with glass walls around, shielding the people from wind, during their meal.

When Raoul, Gustave, her and Maya took places at their table, Christine, instead of admiring the view of the ocean, was focused only on Maya's movements. The smile seemed to never disappear from the girl's face.

"What's on your mind, Maya?" Christine finally decided to break the silence.

Maya looked up at her, as if she was scared to share what was it, that she was so absorbed in. Raoul and Gustave's attention was now also drawn to her and she visibly had no other choice. She only replied:

"Nothing, really. I just thought about what John said about not worrying and decided... not to worry..."

Christine looked at her suspiciously. It wasn't the best explanation to her. She wanted to ask another question, but her husband was quicker than her:

"Really? Why the sudden change of attitude?"

Maya's POV

Raoul's question surprised me. As if he cared that much about what I was feeling or thinking! But, I was too excited to think about what he cared about or not. I simply responded, trying to evade the main topic and at the same time share a piece of my mind:

"You know, at first I was scared of all the 'different land, different people' but what if we actually see a familiar face." I wondered out loud.

"I wouldn't want to see anyone that knows me there." Raoul muttered, once again clearly forgetting that everyone at the table could hear him.

That was when Gustave, posessed by his curiosity, decided to join the talk:

"Why, father?" was his simple question and on his face there was a genuine confused frown.

Raoul sighed, visibly preparing a proper excuse for what he had said. Gustave's need to know the answer only grew, while his father was trying to buy himself some time.

"Because," he started "we're going to America to take a break from Paris."

Ahh, I didn't need to hear his less-than-decent explanation to guess the real reason; because every person that Raoul knew was someone, whom he owed money. Noone liked him and that was the point.

A thought of Raoul, meeting face to face with Erik once more, seemed entertaining to me, to say the least. Christine must've noticed my reaction, because she immediately asked another question. That's when I realized, that I had started to laugh after Raoul's failed attempt to excuse his words. This didn't look really good.

"Are you thinking of anyone in particular?" Christine asked as if she wanted to defend Raoul with the change of the subject, but deep down she knew why it could be funny. And for her, there was nothing to laugh at.

In the meantime Gustave seemed to ignore our conversation and his attention was now drawn to something else, so I took advantage of this situation and explained:
