It was dawning. The amusement park under the name of Phantasma welcomed the sun just as any other day. The life was slowly beginning to wake up from sleep and people started walking down its pathways. The park was to open soon and welcome its first new guests, just like it had the day before and just like it would the next day.
Christine opened her eyes when the sunrays coming through the curtains still refused to leave her alone. For a second she was trying to recall what had happened last evening. The events seemed rather unlikely to occurr, but unfortunately one thing was hinting at quite the opposite - she woke up in one of the rooms inside of Mr Y's castle.
She slowly rose from her bed and glanced at a bed that stood a few steps away, between her own and the window. There was resting Gustave, her son, sleeping soundly. Christine felt relieved that he hadn't woken up yet, because the moment he would have done that, he would immediately run off to see every single corner of the enormous building.
When Christine was sure that her little son was safe and next to her, she remembered something else. Yesterday on the pier... an image of the girl falling back on her, then twisting and turning in pain from the shot wound, the Phantom doing his best to help her; it all flashed through her mind scaring the life out of her. Christine didn't know what had happened next, but she recalled that once she finally stopped Gustave and ordered him to stay and wait in Mr Y's castle, she ran back to the pier to see what followed. She returned to witness Maya being taken away from Erik by some medics. She walked up to see her, but only a second later, she heard Madame Giry behind:
"I'll see to it. You take care of him." And she gestured at Erik, who at the time was still kneeling in the same place, completely broken.
Christine was watching him closely and then walked up and sat down next to him. After the shortest conversation they walked back to Erik's castle, where he quickly assigned a room for her and Gustave. Both her and her son had fallen asleep in no time after such an eventful evening.
While deliberating on last night's events, Christine got dressed and set herself to rights. She did it just in time, because shortly after she was done, she heard a knock at the door. The person she most expected to see was Erik, but it wasn't him. The tall man in a top hat, holding a silver tray, greeted her:
"Good morning, Madame. The Master ordered me to serve you breakfast." He bowed and seemed to wait for Christine to say or do something.
The baffled woman came back to reality and opened the door for the man, who walked in with a smile and set the tray on the little table.
"Did he say anything else?" Christine asked politely, but inside she was desperate to get any information at all.
The man, known as Dr Gangle, wondered for a while and then raised his shoulders.
"No, I don't recall him saying anything more."
Christine sighed in understanding and thanked the man. She also asked him where Mr Y was at the moment and he said that he was staying in the next room, so only a few steps away. Before she closed the door after him, Gangle turned around and bowed one again, saying:
"My pleasure. In case you need anything else, Madame, everyone in Phantasma is at your service as much as at Mr Y's."
She responded with a smile, as much as the statement confused her, and closed the door. Everything around her seemed so unreal; As if she would soon wake up from a weird dream, but for now the dream unfortunately seemed to have no end.
