A sudden stillness,
And listened to
The rain tonight:
Singing in guttering;
Gently sputtering
From broken tiles;
Pattering steadily on
Grass and pavement;
Ringing in old pipes.
This steady rain,
Fresh like lemons
On the evening air,
Tempting me to
Lie down and gaze
At starless skies,
Feeling each drop
Strike my limbs,
Soaking my unease
With comfort.
