The first thing you remembered thinking was it was dark. Fear made powerful memories, and you were terrified of the dark. All you had to keep you safe was your teddy, Sammy. You'd never had family before, but Sammy was always there to keep you company. You couldn't imagine what would've happened if you didn't have him.
When the rumbling cabin stopped, you clung to Sammy in the pitch blackness that seemed to swallow you up. You still didn't know where you were, or why you were there. You just wanted to escape the darkness.
For a moment nothing happened. Then a stream of sunlight cut through the darkness like a sword. You glanced up.
A large group of teenage boys were standing above you, but they didn't seem to have noticed you yet. They were all sweaty and dirty, and there didn't seem to be any girls anywhere.

You shrank into the corner, trying to hide behind a large crate. You couldn't remember anything. What was going on?

Suddenly the lift shook. You looked up.
One of the boys had jumped down into the metal cage..
You shrank further into the darkened corner.

"Hey Alby!" The boy yelled back up. "The supplies are all here, but there ain't no Greenie. What's it mean?"

"Oh right.. Alby's not here. Guess I'll check it out myself."

A rat scuttled by and you couldn't help but squeal. "Eek!"

Immediately you covered your mouth, but it was too late. The boy was making his way toward you.

"What the-" he exclaimed upon seeing you. "Aye shucks! It's a girl!"

A wave of surprise rippled through the crowd A girl? Really?

The boy from before moved closer, so you pulled your knees up and hid your face, clinging to your teddy for dear life. "D-don't come any closer." Your childish voice was shaking.
"Don't worry." the boy said, "I won't hurt you I promise."
For a moment you believe him... you even let him guide you out of the box. But as you reached the top, your eyes connected somewhere in the crowd.

Black holes of fury beaded down on you from a firey glare...

And you ran..
