"Hey! You got the target this time!" Ash beamed aweigh pride. Jamie breathed a sigh of relief at this. After eating and letting their meals go down, Ash urged Jamie to start training again. This time, she let Jamie choose what he wanted to do next. Since it always seemed to be easy on TV, Jamie decided to give archery a go. While it did seem easy, he was proven wrong at how hard it really was. Everything had to be taken into consideration: how much he had to pull back; his aim; focus on the target; wind speed and how long he held the bow string for. First time he took a shot, he didn't pull back the string enough. This made the arrow hot the ground halfway to the target. Second time, Jamie took too long to aim, causing the bow and the tension in his arms to shake, making him miss the target. Ash gave him advice on how to do better, thankfully without being as harsh as she was earlier. Jamie had fired three more arrows, the third finally hitting the target.
"Keep that up, and I believe that you'll have your ideal weapon," Ash smiled with confidence.
"I had a good teacher," Jamie complimented with a smile.
"Oh please! I'm still learning myself," Ash scoffed, but looked like she took the compliment well. Jamie smiled back as he started to retrieve his arrows. He looked at the last one that he had fired. It was just inside the target. Pretty good, but I'll get better the more he practised.
Jamie started to reach for the arrow, when there was a chiming in the air. Ash jumped to her feet in a flash of giddy excitement. Cinder did the same thing. The chiming rang again, like the dinging of a small bell. As it called out, Ash immediately went up to Jamie. He didn't react as she hurriedly grabbed the bow and arrows from him.
"It's time! Nexus is done with your egg!" She cheered, causing Jamie to feel just as excited. As soon as they dumped the weapons back on the rack, they jumped onto Cinder. The dragon let out a quiet harrumph before she powerfully flapped her wings. Leaves and dust flew up as Cinder's body was going up. Jamie held onto Ash, just lie, the first time he was taken for a ride. Cinder didn't go too high. She only flew a couple, of metres above the trees. She didn't need to go too far. Jamie could only feel excitement building up again. Time to be with his egg again.
"Your Majesty! The crystals! They-"
"I know, you idiot! Get out!"
"It couldn't be..."
"Your egg is definitely unique, Jamie," Ash thought out loud as she hopped off of Cinder.
"Tell me something that I don't know," Jamie mumbled, also hopping off of Cinder. Once he got on the ground, he noticed that there were a few other dragons. Must be a few other families that were there to pick up their kids' dragons. Hopefully they wont be kept too long. Jamie took a moment to look at the dragons, to see how different they all were. One Jamie recognised from possibly originating from Ash's island. It seemed to be having a glaring match with another dragon that was similar to the one Jamie saw earlier. One was first green and had a very slim body. And the last one was ocean blue, but it didn't have wings. It was nice to see more of a variety of dragons a little closer now.
"Jamie! Come on!" Ash suddenly called out to Jamie. He immediately went after her, just as the doors were opening up. He immediately went after her, just as the doors were opening up. A man and who Jamie assumed to be his daughter stepped out. Both of them were dressed in shorts, sandals and what seemed to be rash vests. Ash stepped quite cautiously out of the way. Both offered a smile at both her and Jamie as they walked over to the wingless dragon, the little girl carrying an egg. Jamie watched as the dragon started to walk towards the tree line with its passengers. How could they get out of the dragon couldn't fly? Was there a way out that Jamie didn't notice before?
Hearing Ash calling out to him again, Jamie snapped out of his thoughts. Shaking off everything else, he followed her back inside. As he entered, he could hear talking coming from the drawing room. Nexus stepped out of it, looking almost overwhelmed. He seemed a bit brighter as he saw the two in front of him.
"Thank you for coming back. I have looked over your egg, Jamie. There's some good news," Nexus said as he smiled tiredly. There was suddenly muffled shouting from the drawing room, causing the elder to groan in annoyance. "Could you take Jamie to the library, Ash. I need to calm things down." Ash eagerly nodded, quickly ushering Jamie up the stairs. Nexus went back into the drawing room, shouting himself. Ash hurriedly took Jamie up the stairs faster, not wanting to get mixed up in the drama. Jamie couldn't agree more with that. Especially if it ends up hurting Ash again.
