Briar looked at her sister through the mirror. Something seemed off about her since last week. This was her wedding day, yet for some reason she barely even smiled. This was supposed to be one of the happiest days of Jane-Anne's life, yet she was so sullen. The wedding was at four, and it was already after two. Jane's hair and make up were finished as were all the bridesmaids. This wedding was by no means cheap, they invested in actual beauticians to do the hair and makeup. Briar's bridesmaids dress was four hundred dollars alone. It was a beautiful pastel olive color that was an A-line style that flowed out long. It was surprisingly cute, just not worth four-hundred dollars.
Another thing that was bothering her was the fact Carly hadn't arrived yet. She called Jane saying a family emergency had come up, but she would be here early that morning, it was right after two and still no Carly. Maybe that was what was bothering Jane-Anne. Her maid of honor was dipping out on her duties. Briar sighed as she stood up and looked at the women.
"Can I have a moment with my sister please?" She asked loudly. Everyone stopped giggling and talking and looked up. Without question they all piled out of the room one by one until it was just Jane-Anne and Briar. When the door clicked, Briar walked over to Jane and sat next to her on the window bench. Briar took her sister's hand and held it tight.
"What's going on?" Briar asked her earnestly.
"Huh? Oh, no-"
"Don't try to lie to me. I know you. Look I haven't been the best sister over the years, and the last few weeks the worst bridesmaid, but I can clearly see something is wrong. I noticed it last Saturday..." Briar paused, watching Jane turn her head and look out the window.
"Do you think I'm making the right choice?" She asked lowly, her face forming guilt as tears filled her eyes. Briar looked at her for a moment before she reached out and turned Jane's face to her own.
"Do you?" Briar asked her little sister. Jane and Briar didn't always get along, a lot of the time they bumped heads and could hardly be in the same room some days, but there was one thing that Briar would always be for her sister and that was supportive. Jane's lip trembled as she shrugged and sniffled.
"I shouldn't be crying," she sighed and wiped a tear away, "this is just prewedding jitter's," Jane said dismissively, though she didn't convince Briar.
"It's normal to second guess marrying someone," Briar stated. Jane pursed her lips and looked out the window. After a moment she stood up pulling Briar up with her.
"Help me with my dress?" She smiled at her sister. Briar nodded.
"I'd love too," Briar grinned as she released her hold on Jane-Anne's hand and walked over to the dress that hung on the closet door. The dress was simple, it was much like the bridesmaids' dresses, but this was strapless and had a long train behind it. Briar helped Jane into the beautiful gown, zipping the back up and pulling it around. Jane looked at herself in the mirror for a moment before she walked back over to the window and sat back down.
"No flattering comment about how you look?" Briar teased. Jane huffed a laugh and shrugged.
"I just- what in the hell?" She halfway shouted and jumped up, lifting the window open.. Briar walked over confused as she tried to look out the window.
"Myrick? What in the shit are you doing here?" Jane-Anne shouted down. Briar's face burned as she looked down as well, and low and behold there was Myrick.
"Woah, you look amazing, Jane-Anne," Myrick said, almost dazed. Briar glanced over to Jane who was turning pink.
"T-thanks...What are you doing here?" She asked again. Myrick looked over to Briar and then back to Jane.
