CHAPTER 22: Return with success

My body felt fully charged. I felt as if I've never been strong before. This was how strong felt.

I stood facing the man in front of me, who had been a great help to us. I was looking forward to work with him in the future. And so I told him.

"It was a pleasure meeting you Gareth. It would be an honour to have you by our side"

"Destroying the portal is the only way to stop those creatures from hell. But I promise we'll find a way to create a new portal to this dimension, a safer one." I continued. The Happiness of being appreciated shone in his eyes, he had finally got a chance to do he was born to do. He nodded at me.

I know what your thinking, what happened to Silver route? Well this dimension has a lot of problems to deal with, it was cursed so that no one could leave using the silver route. So making another portal was the only way for them to come and go to the gathering, but this time it will be a direct portal and not to some other dimension

"The pleasure is all mine, milady. It was an honour to help you, and I'm looking forward to work for you" he said, and I noticed how he had said work for you rather than with you. To him, I was someone who he was born to serve. But I didn't want him to think that way.

"With me, Gareth. You're going to work with me" I said with a smile and he smiled back, the corner of his eyes crinkled as he did.

We helped with fixing the houses that were damaged when the hell's shapeshifters had gotten deeper into the dimension. People stared at me, some came and talked to me, some stared and talked about me from a distance.

I was helping August fix the wall of a house when something poked my legs.
I looked down to see a little boy looking at me through his eyelashes with those blue eyes. His hair grown out, it needed  trim soon.

"Hi my name is Ethan, Can you fwind my mommy?" He asked me with his cute little voice.

"I can't see her. They were saying that you are poweful and you cwould hewp me" he tilted his head to the side waiting for me to answer.

I called out to Gareth who was working on the next house. While listening to what his assistant was telling him. He turned towards me and looked at the boy. His eyes turned sombre. He walked towards me.

"Yes?, milday"

"Do you know this kid? Do you know where his mom is?" I asked. Gareth hesitated

"My lady, three of our warrior's were..." He didn't finish the sentence, he didn't have to. I looked at Ethan and sadness filled my chest. He looked at me, with his eyes filled with water. I crouched down to his level.

"I can not fwind her, can I?" He whispered, a lone tear rolling down his cheek. I hugged him and lifted him, he cried on my shoulder. While I tried to sooth him. He finally took his head off my shoulder

"Mommy said that a lweader will come and I should sereve the lweader. Are you the lweader?" He asked with wide curious eyes.

"Why do you think I am the leader?"

"You are cwool" he said nodding to himself and I chuckled. I knew what I had to do. Another kid has lost his parents, dark dimension was going to pay for this.

"Do you want to come with the leader to another cool place?" I asked him and he nodded aggressively with a smile but stopped and looked at me with a sad frown.

"Mommy would have liked to come" he said. Then he wiped his eyes and gave me a big smile.

"I'm a strong bwoy, I will sweve the lweader" I smiled at the little boy's determination.
