I had my eyes wide open no trace of sleep in me. The previous incidents came to mind, my mind racing with thousand possibilities leaving me no gap to rest. One week had passed since we left, one whole week. It has been just two days for us. Lucas told us to rest and we would talk about it the next day. But I didn't have enough patience for that.
Then I remembered the guardian. Who would have thought he would actually look like that. His voice and looks had gone from terrifying to something worth worshipping.
Who was he? How did he become a guardian? Does one become a guardian or are they born like that?
'I was not born a guardian' that same velvety voice saud in my head. The wall around me vanished to black nothingness.
"Why is that you always talk in darkness?" I asked looking at golden light that started molding into a human form until it was the guardian.
"I am cursed to be like this. And I thought I told you my name, it's Noah. You don't have to call me guardian anymore." He said sitting on the couch, one of the only things that didn't disappear into the darkness beside my bed.
I was now sitting up, folding my legs. I looked at him with my eyebrows raised.
"Cursed? Like for eternity? What did you do to get cursed and did you mean that you were alive before you became a guardian? Is it that bad? Do you have a way out?" I asked, like I said patience wasn't my best suite.
"Slow down" he said with a soft chuckle.
"I was alive before I became a guardian. I was a warrior" he said rubbing his neck while doing so. And I remembered Lucas doing the same thing whenever he was nervous or thinking. Then the day Lucas had told me about the guardian, his eyes everything just came flooding to my mind.
"Did you know Lucas when you were alive?" I asked. He just looked at me for a few seconds and pursed his lips.
"I'll be damned if I didn't" he said and I furrowed my eyebrow in question.
"I mean I will know my own little brother right?" He said with a smile. It took a few second fo me to process what he was saying. I blinked at him and he blinked back, I raised an eyebrow and he nodded.
"Holy mother of heavens!" I jumped on bed.
"I knew it! I knew there was some sort of connection between you and- woaah" I had gotten of the bed in excitement failing to the endless black around and start to free fall until I fell back to the bed and was sitting up. I looked around trying to process what just happened.
Noah was still sitting on the couch but with his spine straight. He had bitten the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing. His nostrils flared as he tried to keep a straight face.
He lost control once we made eye contact and started laughing while clutching his belly. Blood rushed to my face by the embarassment. But I had to crack a smile and chuckle along, his laugh was contagious, I will give him that.
"That's right, laugh at Charlie. Do you know how terrifying that was?" I asked mock glaring at him.
"Oh come one, you have got to admit that was pretty funny" his eyes sparkled in mischief. I looked away not letting myself to forgive that easily but then gave up anyways.
"What are you and Lucas? You are not ordinary warriors" I asked softly, I just felt the need to be careful of the topic.
"We're not, well at least not completely, we are half witches." Well that explains all the potion and spell work.
"How did I become a guardian? Will Lucas become a guardian too if he died?" He took the words out of my mouth.
"No, Lucas will not become a guardian when he dies. He is not cursed like I am. And how I became guardian is something Lucas will tell you. With time." He said. Whatever had happened it did concern Lucas and Noah wanted Lucas to tell me himself..
