Chapter 25: Meteor Festival Part 1: The Pack

It was the day of the festival and the school was in full swing. The drama club had finally gotten everything ready and the students were eager to begin the festivities. All the school couples immediately started pairing up despite the fact that the festival wouldn't start until much later in the evening.

Kai was wandering the school grounds and was having some mixed feelings about the event. On the one hand he was very proud of all the work he and the others had done, on the other hand festivals weren't really his thing. Plus, he was still feeling awkward about Kibi who he knew was going to be there.

"Man, this sucks!" Kai said to himself. "The festival is tonight and I just know things are gonna blow. I wanted to hangout with Kibi, but because of that stupid ass prank he won't even talk to me. I could ask Legosi, but he's going with his roommates and I don't want to be a third wheel. Plus it would make everyone think Legosi is my only friend and I don't want that... Even if it is true."

The mongoose continued walking around, wondering what he should do. After a few more minutes of wandering around, Kai spotted a certain tiger passing by.

At that moment, the small carnivore got an idea, though to be honest, it was one he didn't like. Despite that, he didn't have any other option and after gritting his teeth, he caught up to his fellow club member.

"Hey Bill," the mongoose said in an unenthusiastic tone. "What are you up to?"

"Nothing much," the tiger said with a grin. "I'm just getting ready for tonight. I don't know about you, but I can already tell that it's gonna be a blast this year."

"Oh, so does that mean you already have plans?" Kai asked as he put a hand behind his head.

"I actually don't if I'm being honest," Bill answered. "Me and my girl broke up, as you know, so I was just gonna go on my own. I mean, the festival is for everyone and just because we split up, doesn't mean I can't still have fun and enjoy myself."

"I-I see," Kai said awkwardly. "In that case... can I ask you something?"

The tiger smiled. "Sure bro, what's up"

"I'm not your bro, you ass!" Kai growled in his head.

He took a deep breath and spoke. "Bill, would you... 'ghk'... like to... 'hmb'... go... to the... 'blrg'... festival... with me?"

"Oh god, I think I actually taste bile!" Kai thought as he tried to hold a rather painful looking smile.

Bill raised a brow. "Are you ok man? You look like you're gonna throw up. Either that or you got the runs."

"I'm fine! I just had a little too much at lunch and I'm not feeling to well, but I'm sure it will pass," the mongoose answered, hoping the orange cat would buy his story.

"If you say so," Bill responded.

"Anyway, I'd be happy to join you at the festival! Two bros going to a festival together, what could be better than that?"

"Now come on, bring it in," the tiger said with a winning grin as he suddenly brought the mongoose into a one armed hug.

"Just two friends hanging out, nothing better than that!"

"Urge to kill, RISING!" Kai snarled in his head as he endured the unwanted display of affection.

Bill let Kai go and started heading back to his dorm.

"See ya tonight dude," the large cat called out as he gave a thumbs up.

"Yea, see ya," Kai answered.
