Walking in the midst of an unknown forest, Nariko shivers from the cold wind that's being offered to her by Mother Nature. Unsure where to go, she keeps walking forward. If you could just imagine the state she's in, you would probably be scared of her. Blood in every part of her body, bruises and cuts, and a broken sword to protect herself from the danger in that very forest. You might be thinking, how would she even protect herself if a bear suddenly shows up and devours her for being accused of disturbing the bear's hibernation. Well, she wasn't scared of the animals dwelling in that forest. She was scared to be caught in the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji, the king of demons.

Demons are a race of monstrous, immortal, supernatural, ancient, and malevolent beings which possess a murderous instinct to kill and devour humans. Even the weakest of Demons possess inhuman strength, speed and endurance, being able to outmatch the average person in all physical categories effortlessly. Demons have incredible regenerative abilities far superior than any living being or human due to the properties of Muzan Kibutsuji's demonic blood, able to heal any sort of physical injury in mere seconds, including deep cuts, organs, chunks of flesh, entire limbs or even their head and entire body. Stronger Demons can heal more serious injuries faster and more precisely than weaker Demons. Imagine if you ever bump into one of them. Would you actually survive knowing that they regenerate in a blink of an eye. Even if you manage to cut of its arm, it would still grow back like nothing ever happened. But of course, they have weaknesses. If you're skilled enough, you can cut off their heads and eventually survive. Thankfully, Nariko is skilled enough to take down ten demons. But for Muzan Kibutsuji and his Twelve Kizuki, they're exemptions.

Kibutsuji's minions invaded Nariko's residence one night, but Nariko is nowhere to be found. She was out on a mission to kill demons, not knowing that there where a bunch at her house. Her family was shaking in fear, but with high hopes that Nariko comes home quick and slay the demonic invaders. But everything happened in an instant. As soon as Nariko gets home, she just sees the bloody scenery of one of a Twelve Kizuki happily devouring her older brother. Her parents being digested by a weaker demon that seems to be very satisfied. Nariko could not do anything at all, now that her family resides in a stomach of a demon. She lets out a battle cry and charges towards the demon who ate her family. Unfortunately, she couldn't kill the demon immediately as the weak demon approaches her with its mouth wide open, ready to fill its stomach once again. She goes to the side to avoid being eaten, then decides to finish off the weak demon first. She holds tight to her sword, breathing in an unusual way only demon slayers would recognize. "Thunder Breathing Fourth Form, Distant Thunder!" Nariko then generates powerful lightning strikes in several directions with her blade from a far distance, decapitating the demon's head. She then proceeds to kill one of the Twelve Kizuki, but ends up in despair and pain. Her power is on par with a Hashira, so why can't she defeat it? Simple, because she's facing Akaza, an Upper Rank Three demon. As the holder of the 'Upper Rank Three' title, Akaza possessed a tremendous amount of power. He even manages to overwhelm Nariko as she decides to run away instead of slaying Akaza and get help. He chases after her until she is cornered. He stops and talks for the first time, making Nariko more scared than ever.

"You really thought you could defeat me? You're nothing but a weakling. But since I don't want to kill you, I will set you free this time. Go, run away until your bones break and you cry for agony. It's better than me actually killing you. I'm not that type of demon who kills women. But that doesn't make me weak." He stares at the night sky, then chuckles. "Tsk. Why am I even explaining this to you? Just go before I actually decide to kill you." She gave him a hard stare, then decides to run despite of her miserable condition. Broken legs due to Akaza's powerful attacks, and a bloody figure. She hesitates for a moment but then realizes that Akaza was dead serious. He sets her free like a bird and she runs as if it was her last.

Three days have passed and Nariko is still lost, not knowing where she is actually going. She just walks forward, even without eating something edible, or even stop and rest just for a while. She walks, and walks, and walks, until her whole self finally giving up. She passed out in the middle of nowhere, and is near the brink of death.

She thought it would be her final moment. She regret everything. She regretted not being by her family's side, protected them, or even cook their favorite dish that they always anticipate when you take over the tiny kitchen. She blames herself, and thinks that her family hates her already. She even regretted being born. She claims herself useless, and she finally dies.

Or as she thought.

If y'all are wondering when this took place, it took 7 years before Tanjiro was born. As you can see, Nariko uses Thunder Breathing Form. You might be thinking why she has a blue triangular patterned haori. It's because it was from her mother, and I saw a post that the haori demon slayers wear had something to do with family lineage. So yeah, hope y'all enjoyed reading this mess. Love, from Paddington.
