"Can't you get a little lighter? You're heavy as fuck!"

"You can swear all you want, but you said you will oblige. So no. I can't get any lighter. Stop complaining or I'm going to eat the hell out of you."

For starters, it seemed like they were at each other's necks. But for the duo, it was just a casual conversation between very close friends. They wouldn't talk too profane in front of their families, for it would be a disgrace. It was pretty normal for them.

"I definitely need to drink or eat something or else I'm going to die!"

"Just wait until we get there."

"You want me to wait for a few hours to finally drink something?!"

"How do you even know where the village is when it's definitely hidden? Just admit that we're lost."

"Trust me, I know where we are going. My father told me that I just need to follow a trail. He actually left some marks in case I got too desperate to find him."

"Well that's convenient. Now just wait until we get there."

Haruto groaned, thinking that Nariko never listened to his complaints. He was very exhausted, yet he still tried to muster his strength to carry his friend and walk all the way.

"I can hear… a creek nearby."

"How the hell do you hear a creek?"

"Doesn't matter. Just head straight."

He followed her orders with a bit of confusion. She was just full of surprises, each one coming out one after another. First, she survived an extremely dangerous journey, then miraculously withstand wisteria, and now she can hear things. To sum it up, she was caught up in a tragedy, and the next thing she knows, she gets to hear a creek up ahead. It was kinda vague yet specific, he thought.

His eyes popped out as he saw the actual creek. Nariko wasn't lying at all. He let go of the basket, rushing towards the crystal clear body of water.

He was definitely hydrated that he almost drank a liter of water. But there was one thing he forgot. They packed up some water before they left. Of course, Nariko used this opportunity to trick his friend.

"Oh wait! I almost forgot. There's water in here! Silly old me, being forgetful at a young age."

Depression. Wrath. Resentment. Jaundice. Aggravation. Antipathy. Embitterment. Indignation. Lividness. Grudge. These were the only things he felt. If only he could ditch his friend, throw her to the deepest parts of the earth, or just expose her to the sun.

"Your days are counted, Nariko. Trust me when I say you do not want to get your ass kicked by me."

"At least you can also clean yourself up. You kinda smell like shit."

"This bitch! I'm definitely gonna kill you!"

Approximately 12 hours later

Haruto stopped by a huge tree, putting the basket down, and finally taking a rest. Nariko actually convinced him to rest when it was still noon, but he insisted. Now, he's fatigued. It almost looked like he showered in his own sweat. Nariko went out of the basket, returning to her normal height, and tucking in her Nichirin sword.

"I definitely need to sleep," he whimpered while scooting over the tree's roots.

"If you only listened to me, you wouldn't have any back problems by now," Nariko remarked while prepping the firewood.
