"Do you want to stay as a demon?"
Nariko had to think hard. If she wants to return to being human, she would need to wait for Tamayo to devise a cure. It would be very unsure when she can actually make one. If she wants to stay as a demon, she would become stronger. Although there are consequences, like her being a demon while being in the Corps. They would surely execute her and her teacher might be even responsible for it. She had to choose the right thing to do.
"Right now, I am beyond perplexed if I should stay as a demon or go back to being human. There are benefits and drawbacks," she said while caressing her temple. You could really tell that she was having a hard time choosing the right thing to do.
The room was filled with silence as Nariko was thinking very hard. A minute passed and she finally decided.
"So, what will you do?"
"I will go to the deepest part of the ocean and live there forever."
Nariko is the worst at making decisions. She doesn't know what's best so she just improvised a plan by living in an ocean. Tamayo was very confused.
"Are you sure about your decision?"
"Just kidding. I would never run away from my responsibility as a member of the Corps. I wish to stay as a demon for now."
"For now? What do you mean?"
"I will tell my teacher first about my situation. It depends on her judgment if she wants to remove me from being her student, and would have the choice to kill me. But I've known her for a long time. She doesn't make rash decisions and would choose a better option."
"But why only temporarily?"
"I want to protect humans as much as I can, even if it means violating the Corps' rules. I have a feeling they already marked me dead, so it makes it easy for me to do my job. They won't know that I am a demon and I still work for them. I will tell the leader as soon as I get to them. For now, I have to hide my identity."
"That would also work. Are you prepared for the consequences though," Tamayo asked with a worried look on her face. She knew that it wasn't going to be that easy, since Muzan might find her out and send someone to annihilate her.
"Yes. I just want to do my best to do my obligation. I know it's not easy, but it's the best option I have. Besides, all I need to do is to stay away from any trouble or bump into one of the members of the Corps until I get to my teacher or the leader," Nariko assured. The truth is, she knew it wasn't going to be easy, since her colleagues might find her and sell her out, or demons she encounters might report her to Muzan before they get killed.
"Well then, let's make sure you get strong enough to fight stronger demons. Stay here for a while. I will run some experiments on you."
"I'm gonna be so dead," Nariko said to herself.
A FEW HOURS LATER
"We're finally done. You can take a break now," Tamayo declared as she finished her experiments on Nariko. She sure was tired after doing all those tests.
Nariko was about to sit when someone knocked on the door. She groaned and proceeded to open the door.
"Are you done yet? Your conversation really took a lot of time. Yushiro almost went on a rampage because he said you were trying to take her away from him. Crazy, right? He's in his room right now, trying to calm himself down," Himari said.
"We're already done. You can tell Yushiro to calm down now." Tamayo kept all her things and told the two girls to wait in the living room.
"Oh wait. Nariko, could you stay here for a bit longer? I still have one last experiment to do."
