This is just some background information about myself and the story - feel free to skip to the next chapter where the story actually begins.

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or Demon Slayer; these belong to the talented Gotouge Sensei. Any art I use are created by the people on the internet blessed with drawing skills (that sadly I don't have). The only thing I own is this fanfiction born from my love towards the dynamic between Kocho and Tomioka (and honestly my desire to put my fantasies on paper since they aren't canon *sighhhhh*).

A/N: Hey everyone! I'm a writer who has taken a 6-year hiatus from writing fanfic, I used to write about Attack on Titan (shameful days lol). I guess over time I've grown up a little and felt that AoT doesn't spark that flame in me anymore, so I stopped writing (for 6 years). Well guess what - Kocho and Tomioka has once again sparked that fire in me strong enough to urge me back to writing. My hope is that through my writing you guys can feel my love for these two characters, and that with each passing chapter you guys grow to love them more and more. I've decided for the ease of everyone involved, I've kinda given a brief summary of what to expect in terms of the setting and characters etc. so that if you decide this isn't to your taste you don't have to waste your time reading half the thing before realising you don't like the setting, but please give it a chance :<

I'm also fairly conscious about how bad grammar and spelling can ruin a fanfic that shows potential, so I've tried my best to proofread and weed out errors before publishing to you guys. However, I'm still prone to making mistakes so please bear with me when I do 😊

Setting: Focuses on the 9 Hashira/Pillars, set in a time before the Tanjiro situation occurred. Kocho Shinobu and Kanroji Mitsuri join the Hashira ranking at the same time. The story zooms into mainly Kocho and Tomioka's relationship progression with Kanroji and Iguro's relationship being secondary; the other Hashira will likely be mentioned and included for the sake of completion, but focus will not be hugely placed on them. There may be some ways in how the universe in this fanfic runs that differs from the manga/anime, though majority should be fairly similar.

Rankings: The main difference from the original manga/anime will probably be the rankings of the demon slayers and the way they are displayed. To start off with, there will only be 4 ranks - demon slayers who have just passed the final selection will be of lowest ranking (blue rank), followed by white rank, red rank, then black rank (highest ranking, aka Pillar). The demon slayer uniform design will be exactly the same as what is shown in the original manga/anime, except that the colour will display the individual's respective ranking (i.e., blue rank having a navy-blue uniform, white rank having a white uniform etc.)
