Before the song started, Aspen had placed Es with Mulligan and walked over to Philip, Al, and James. "I'll send these two back home," she said as light shone around the two and they disappeared. Aspen retook her seat in front of Washington and pressed play for the next song to play.
Look around, look around at how lucky we are
To be alive right now
Look around, look aroundHow long have you known?
A month or so
Angelica gasped, a wide smile on her face as she put two-and-two together almost immediately. Martha and Peggy also smiled when they figured it out. Philip tilted his head in confusion.
Esper, you should have told me
I wrote to the General a month ago
No
I begged him to send you home
You should have told me
I'm not sorry
I knew you'd fight
Until the war was won (The war's not done)
But you deserve a chance to meet your son"Wait... me?!" Philip exclaimed, before lowering his voice immediately at his grandpa's glare. "Sorry."
Washington chuckled before nodding. "Yes, you."
Look around, look around
At how lucky we are to be alive right nowWill you relish being a poor man's wife
Unable to provide for your life?I relish being your wife
Madison smiled softly. She was always loyal to you, Alexander. I just wish I could say the same about you.
Look around, look around
Look at where you are
Look at where you started
The fact that you're alive is a miracle"Does mother know about father's past?" Philip asked, looking over at Aspen who raised her hand and shook it slightly to say, 'kind of'.
"She knows quite a bit of his childhood, but there are aspects she doesn't," she explained. Philip nodded and looked back at the screen.
Just stay alive, that would be enough
And if this child
Shares a fraction of your smile
Or a fragment of your mind"And he does with both," Jefferson chuckled. Philip grinned slightly, reminding a lot of people of a young Alexander James Hamilton. "See?"
Look out world!
That would be enoughI don't pretend to know
The challenges you're facing
The worlds you keep erasing and creating in your mind
But I'm not afraid
I know who I married
So long as you come home at the end of the day
That would be enoughWe don't need a legacy
Yet they have an amazing legacy, Aspen smiled. All thanks to Hamilton, Esperanza, and their children. As well as Lin.
We don't need money
If I could grant you peace of mind
If you could let me inside your heart
Oh, let me be a part of the narrative
Let this moment be the first chapter
Where you decide to stayPhilip, Jefferson, and Madison cringed slightly at the word 'stay', their mind going back to the two affairs Hamilton publicly announced he had had with two different women, one of them being his wife's best friend/godsister.
And I could be enough
And we could be enough
That would be enoughYou are more than enough for Father, Mother, Philip thought softly as he glanced over at the younger version of his father as well as the younger version of his mother. You are both more than enough for each other. I just wished Father remembered that. Maybe, after this, the affair won't happen. Maybe, just maybe, in a different timeline Father doesn't make that mistake and comes with us to visit Grandpa Schuyler. That would be enough.
