Seventeen, se- se- seventeen
Se- se- seventeen
Seventeen eight-nine
How does the bastard orphan, immigrant decorated war vet
"Slightly new insults, eh, Burr?" Alex laughed, Burr laughing along.
Unite the colonies through more debt?
Fight the other founding fathers 'til he has to forfeit?
"Now you see where James gets it from," Esper giggled, Alex chuckling along as James gasped dramatically. "Or maybe it's uncle Lafayette's fault."
"Mon ami!" Lafayette exclaimed in playful outrage.
"Calm down, you lot," Washington chastised as the song continued.
Have it all, lose it all
You ready for more yet?
"No," Burr shook his head. "Please, no. I fought a war with that man. You kids are lucky you haven't seen your father drunk." Esper started coughing, trying to fight back her laughter. Alex rubbed her back, glaring at Burr whilst his wife continued to die from laughter. "What? It's true!"
"You're killing my wife, Burr," Alex playfully glared before checking on his wife. Esper smiled at him, quickly giving him a kiss before sitting back up. Alex was frozen in place, blinking a couple times before a blush bloomed across his cheeks.
"Pay back, Mr Hamilton," she smirked.
"Oh really, Mrs. Hamilton?" he grinned.
"Mother, Father, we love seeing you two like this, but please, not in front of us," Lilli gagged. Esper and Alex looked at each other before laughing slightly and refocusing on the show.
Treasury Secretary, Washington's the President
Every American experiment sets a precedent
Not so fast, someone came along to resist him
"Thank you, Thomas," Esper thanked. "If it wasn't for you, who knows how far he would get, hey, Alex?" Alex merely shrugged, leaning back, and holding onto Pippy as he did so.
Pissed him off until we had a two-party system
You haven't met him yet, you haven't had the chance
'Cause he's been kickin' ass as the ambassador to France
But someone's gotta keep the American promise
You simply must meet Thomas, Thomas
"That is me!" Thomas exclaimed, standing and bowing to everyone before Madison yanked him back down.
"I see now why Father fought with you so much," Philip nodded. Thomas feigned hurt before doing a 'hair flip' and turning back to the screen. "Dramatic."
Thomas Jefferson's coming home
Thomas Jefferson's coming home
Thomas Jefferson's coming home
Thomas Jefferson's coming home
Thomas Jefferson's coming home Lord he's been in Paris for so long
(Aaa-ooo)
(Aaa-ooo)
France is following us to revolution
"Good!" Lafayette called.
There is no more status quo
But the sun comes up and the world still spins
"There needs to be a constant," Esper reminded as Maria, one of the twins, leaned back slightly.
I helped Lafayette draft a declaration
"Merci, mon ami," Lafayette thanked with a grin. Thomas smiled back at him.
Then I said, I gotta go
I gotta be in Monticello
Now the work at home begins
So what'd I miss?
What'd I miss?
"A lot," Laurens deadpanned.
Virginia, my home sweet home, I wanna give you a kiss
I've been in Paris meeting lots of different ladies
I guess I basically missed the late eighties
I travelled the wide, wide world and came back to this
"It was shocking what I came back to," Jefferson nodded. "Going from order and peace to utter chaos, it was quite a shock to the system."
Aaa-ooo
There's a letter on my desk from the President
Haven't even put my bags down yet
Sally be a lamb, darlin' won'tcha open it?
It says the President's assembling a cabinet
And that I am to be the Secretary of State, great
And that I'm already Senate-approved
I jut got home and now I'm headed up to New York
"I hate that you have slaves, Tom," Esper murmured. Thomas hummed, nodding before focusing on the show once more.
Headin' to New York, headin' to New York
Lookin' at the rolling fields I can't believe that we are free
Ready to face, whatever's awaiting
Me in N.Y.C.
But who's waitin' for me when I step in the place?
My friend James Madison, red in the face
He grabs my arm
And I respond, what's goin' on? (Aa-oo)
Thomas, we are engaged in a battle for our nation's very soul
Can you get us out of the mess we're in?
Hamilton's new financial plan is nothing less than government control
I've been fighting for the South alone
Where have you been?
Uh France (aa-ooo)
We have to win
What'd I miss? (What'd, what'd, what'd I miss)
What'd I miss? (I've come home to this)
Headfirst into a political abyss (headfirst, into the abyss)
I have my first cabinet meeting today (chik-a-pow)
I guess I better think of something to say
I'm already on my way to get to the bottom of this
(What'd I miss?) aa-ooo
Mr. Jefferson, welcome home
Mr. Jefferson (Alexander Hamilton)
Mr. Jefferson, welcome home
Mr. Jefferson, welcome home, sir, you've been off in Paris for so long
So what did I miss?
"A lot," everyone chimed, staring at the man who shrugged with a smirk before they all focused on the screen once more.
