The issue on the table:
France is on the verge of war with England.
Now do we provide aid to our French allies?
Or do we stay out of it?

"You fight! You signed a treaty." Exclaimed Lafayette.

Remember, my decision on this matter
Is not subject to congressional approval.
The only person you have to convince is me.
Secretary Jefferson, you have the floor sir.

"Alexander is surely going to pick to fight with us, right, Alex?" asked America's favourite fighting Frenchman.

"Of course I would!" Alexander exclaimed.

You don't, Jefferson thought sadly.

When we were on death's door when we were needy
We made a promise, we signed a treaty.

"Wait..." Lafayette mumbled as his eyes widened. "If Jefferson is going first, does that mean... Alexander is fighting against helping us?"

"He did," confirmed the Virginian, "but he made points that I... I didn't take into consideration afterwards."

We needed money and guns and half a chance,
Uhh, who provided those funds? (France)
In return they didn't ask for land,
Only a promise that we'd lend a hand
And stand with them if they fought against oppressors
And revolution is messy but now is the time to stand.
Stand with our brothers when they fight against tyranny.
I know that Alexander Hamilton is here
And he would rather not have this debate.

"He wouldn't?" asked Lafayette.

"To be fair, he had already made up his mind at the time." Madison commented.

"He did?"

"Yes, he did."

I remind you that he is not Secretary of State!

He knows nothing of loyalty (nothing!)
Smells like new money
Dresses like fake royalty.
Desperate to rise above his station
Everything he does betrays the ideals of our nation.
Hey, and if you don't know now you know, Mr. President.

"True, we've seen you're very unloyal, Alexander. Specifically towards your wife." Angelica glared.

"Angelica, enough. I forgave Alexander years ago. Leave. It. Be. Is that understood?" Esper glared back.

"Yes," she nodded, looking away from Alex.

"Good." With that, they continued to watch the show.

Thank you Secretary Jefferson.
Secretary Hamilton, your response.

"Mon ami, please, help us fight this war. We helped you." Lafayette begged.

"I don't know what's going to happen, Lafayette, I really don't." Alexander murmured.

You must be out of your GODDAMNED mind
If you think
The president is gonna bring the nation to the brink
Of meddling in the middle of a military mess

"It isn't a military mess!" protested the Frenchman.

"It was," Jefferson sighed sadly.

A game of chess
Where France is queen and king-less
We've signed a treaty with a king
Who's head is now in a basket
Would you like to take it out and ask it?
"Oh should we honour our treaty King Louis head?"
Uh do whatever you want, I'm super dead!

Enough! Enough!
Hamilton is right (Mr President)
We're too fragile to start another fight

"We probably only barely recovered from the war." Washington guessed.

"We're still struggling now in 1814, but we're better than we were in 1797 when you stepped down, Father," Esper replied.

"I see," Washington mumbled.

(But sir do we not fight for freedom?)
Sure, when the French figure out who's gonna lead 'em.
(The people are leading!)
The people are rioting, there's a difference
Frankly it's a little disquieting
You would let your ideals blind you to reality.

"I now understand what he meant." Jefferson whispered to Madison.

"You do?" he asked.

"I do," confirmed the first Secretary of State.

Hamilton? (Sir) Draft a statement of neutrality.

Did you forget Lafayette?

What?

"So you did," Lafayette glared.

"No, I would never forget you, you're my friend!" Alex protested.

"But you did." He pointed out.

"I didn't." Alex argued.

"I believe you did."

Have you an ounce of regret?
You accumulate debt, you accumulate power
Yet in their hour of need you forget.

Lafayette's a smart man, he'll be fine
And before he was your friend he was mine.
If we try to fight in every revolution in the world
We never stop, where do we draw the line?

"To be fair, he has a point, Laf," Laurens pointed out. Lafayette was silent for a while.

"Touché."

So quick witted

Alas, I admit it

I bet you were quite a lawyer

My defendants got acquitted

Yeah, well someone oughta remind you (What?)
You're nothing without Washington behind you.
(Hamilton) Daddy's calling.

"He's not my dad," Alexander protested.

"Are you sure about that?" Mulligan chuckled.

"Indeed," Alex nodded.
