How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore

"Love the words, Burr," Hamilton chuckled whilst Burr snorted slightly.

And a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot
In the Caribbean by providence impoverished
In squalor, grow up to be a hero and a scholar?

"Hero?" James asked, turning to Al who merely shrugged.

"He's classed as a hero by Lin, but no one's heard about this man. Ever," Al pointed out. Es leaned forward to try ad see the two boys.

"That's true," she nodded, "But don't forget about the soldiers from the wars. They're heroes and yet they're forgotten." The two nodded before they sat back and watched the play continue.

The ten-dollar founding father without a father

Es turned to Hamilton. "You don't have a father either?" she asked innocently. Hamilton's heart tugged, noticing the innocent features of his lover's face, before nodding sadly. "I don't have a father either!" Washington kissed the top of Es' head, wanting to protect her as much as he could but knew that would be impossible.

Got a lot farther by working a lot harder
By being a lot smarter
By being a self-starter
By fourteen, they placed him in charge of a trading charter

"Yikes, that's young," Philip exclaimed, eyes wide. Others agreed with the eighteen-year-old. It was young, too young for some people.

And every day while slaves were being slaughtered and carted away
Across the waves, he struggled and kept his guard up

"Are there still slaves now?" Laurens asked Aspen who shook her head.

"There are, but in a different sense." She replied. "Slavery was abolished in 1865, however there are many different types of slavery that still exist today. There are 4 types of modern slavery: trafficking of people, forced labour, servitude, and slavery. Slavery will never fully be abolished, not for years to come, but it will happen one day. We just need to keep fighting, for the survivors, those who have succumbed to the horrors, and those still trapped within the restraints of modern slavery." Laurens nodded, though he wasn't happy with the answer it was an answer none the less.

Inside, he was longing for something to be a part of
The brother was ready to beg, steal, borrow, or barter

"Really, mon ami?" Lafayette asked as he looked around Washington to see Hamilton. "Stealing?"

"Where I come from you need to do anything you can to survive." Was all Hamilton said before falling silent. Es shifted in Washington's arms for a moment, wanting to comfort the short man for some strange reason. Washington relaxed his arm, watching the girl snuggle into the side of his right-hand man who instinctively wrapped an arm around her. He'll be a good father, he thought before focusing on the screen once more.

Then a hurricane came, and devastation reigned

Alexander and Hamilton both bowed their heads to those who succumbed to the hurricane.

Our man saw his future drip, dripping down the drain
put a pencil to his temple, connected it to his brain
And he wrote his first refrain, a testament to his pain

Well, the word got around, they said, this kid is insane, man

Jefferson snorted fondly. "That' true," he nodded, Madison shaking his head.

Took up a collection just to send him to the mainland
Get your education, don't forget from whence you came
And the world is gonna know your name
What's your name, man?
