The Orphan And The Hero (A Daminette Fanfic AU)

Wait, a date? Like...an actual date?

Marinette woke up the next morning with an unusual enthusiasm. To make sure Tikki and the Miraculous hadn't been a dream, she checked her ears and looked around, finding the red creature sleeping on her pillow. Marinette smiled. 

She ran out of her room with her hair already done and sat down in her seat. Someone was sitting at the table with them...Bruce was back!! Marinette grinned at him. He smiled back.

Damian came into the kitchen next. He honestly looked like a mess. But when he saw Bruce, he immediately perked up and sat down with shining eyes. Oh...his eyes looked so happy...and beau- wait, what was Marinette thinking? She shook her head to clear her thoughts and looked down at her plate.

"Um, Bruce? I found someone to give the Miraculous to." Damian said.

"That's wonderful! Who?"

"She's sitting across from you." Bruce's eyes lit up. "Wonderful choice, Damian." His expression changed from giddiness to a sly smirk. Oh no, Marinette thought. 

"Is the only reason you chose her because you thought she would be perfect for the job?" He said with a cocked eyebrow. Damian and Marinette both blushed furiously. "Y-yes. It is. Wh-why would think I did it because of anything else?" 

Bruce shrugged. "Just wondering." He picked up his plate and motioned for Alfred to join him in his Study Room.

That left Marinette and Damian by themselves. They both stared at their food without looking at each other. They were both blushing furiously. And they were both anxious to say something to the other....

Damian was about to say something, but then he closed his mouth. Marinette noticed though.

"What were you gonna say?"

"M-me? Nothing." Marinette smirked.

"What? Robin got your tongue?" Damian smirked back.

"Big talk from a small bug."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah."

"Why is that so?"

"Because you only need to answer in one word."

"One word to what?"

"My question."

"And what's your question?" Marinette and Damian were silent for a moment until Damian finally asked...

"Will you go out on a date with me?" Marinette was taken aback. She heard Tikki giggling from behind her. Marinette didn't know what to say. 

"What do you mean? Like...an actual date? Instead of the fake stuff we had to do for the cameras." Damian nodded.

"Yes...I would like to go out on a date with you...Birdie." Damian rolled his eyes while Marinette giggled.

"You know, you get flustered very easily for being someone hard to get through to." Damian grinned and said, "I know."
