The Orphan And The Hero (A Daminette Fanfic AU)

Trouble in Gotham

Marinette threw off her dress and slipped into her normal day clothes once she got to her room in the mansion. She yelled "Spots On!" and transformed into Ladybug.

She swung out of her room with her yo-yo, flying across town with tears in her eyes. She was angry. Angry with herself. Angry with Damian. Angry with Chloe and Lila. How could she have been a fool to think he actually liked her for a second?

Damian's fake smile was enough to fool Lila and Chloe, but when they weren't around and near him, he quickly dropped it.

Once he was sure that they were gone, he slipped outside and walked around, looking for Marinette.

When he finally realized that she wasn't there and must've gone home, he ran to the bathroom.

Quickly, he put his Robin costume on (don't question it, i have no explanation) and snuck out of the party.

Flying across town, he tried to reach the mansion, but something caught his eye. A flash of red and black zoomed right past him. Knowing that there was only one thing that could look like that and swing so fast across Gotham, he changed course and followed Ladybug.

She was going way too fast and disappeared. He lost her. Robin sighed. He heard sniffling coming from his left and quickly followed the noise. 

Once he found the source of the noise, his expression softened and he sat down by the girl who was perched on the ledge of the building.

She heard him approach, but didn't even bother to look up. "What do you want?" She said in a muffled voice. "I want to know why you're crying, that's what." Ladybug still kept her head buried in between her legs.

"What happened? Did I do something wrong?" Robin asked.

"You were probably having too much fun with Lila and Chloe to even realize what I'm crying about right now, so I don't think I need to tell you why, but then again, maybe I should because you're so oblivious," she snapped at him. Now she looked up at him, but her look read hatred and hurt.

Robin burst out laughing. Ladybug couldn't believe him! How could he be laughing at her? She angrily slapped his arm.

"I'm sorry! I couldn't help it! But have fun? With Chloe and Lila? That's kind of impossible."

Ladybug gave him a puzzled expression and blinked at him blankly.

"Marinette, I was only having fun with you. It may have seemed like I was enjoying the party, but not with those spoiled girls. I'm sorry it looked like that, I guess my fake smile worked a little too much, huh?" Robin smirked. Ladybug smacked him playfully this time.

"Please, stop crying. . . . .I hate seeing your beautiful face ruined with tears." Robin rubbed a tear running down Ladybug's cheek away. Ladybug giggled, then realized something. This was the first time he called her beautiful.

"I'm the one who should be sorry. I overreacted over something that I didn't even know was fake."

"Nope, I take full blame. I should've taken your feelings into account." Ladybug laid her head on Robin's shoulder and closed her eyes.

"By the way, my superhero name is Ladybug."

"Beautiful."

*BOOM*

The ground shook

*BOOM*

Ladybug jerked her eyes open

*BOOM*

Both Robin and Ladybug were on their feet in an instant, facing the direction of the loud booms were coming from.

Ladybug and Robin exchanged only one look and raced towards the sound. The look they shared said on thing: Gotham is in trouble.
