Castiel was frozen. Dean had entered his memories twenty minutes ago, and he was still in there. As soon as Dean's hand made contact with Castiel's wings, he felt the connection and was immediately immobilized by a surge of energy flowing from the back of his head and down his spine; right into his wings, right where Dean had laid his hand. Castiel was worried. He didn't know what memory Dean was in. It was weird. It was his mind and his memories, but he couldn't see them. It was like the connection blocked his access to his memories.
Suddenly, he felt Dean tense. His body went ridged and he began breathing fast. Oh Father, please do not let any harm come to Dean. Please do not let him be in battle. He prayed. Human wars were one thing, but Angel wars were unfathomable. The Warriors of Heaven were ruthless when it came to defending their Father and their home. He had seen their ruthlessness first hand his entire life. Castiel mentality shuddered as he thought. He knew all of the bad memories and experiences he'd been through, but he couldn't recall any specific one, no matter how hard he tried.
Eventually, he gave up trying to recall the tortures of his life and instead thought about Dean. They'd been through hell and back. Literally and figuratively. He could be going through a worse hell right now... Castiel thought. He sucked in a sharp breath. He couldn't think like that right now. Dean flinched and Castiel balled his fist, concentrating on the wall. After what felt like hours of fighting with himself and worrying about Dean, he heard his hunter praying to him.
Cas," he sobbed, his voice full of pain and emotion, " please. Just, just get me out of here. Please Cas I-I can't take this anymore. I need you Cas. Help me. Please..."
His voice was raw and ragged with emotion, Castiel could tell he was in pain. I need you Cas. Echoed through his mind. What did I put him through? Castiel thought.
Gently, he removed Dean's hand while speaking the sacred Enochean spell that broke the connection, and once again Castiel had gained access to all of his memories. All at once his past flooded back to him. He was blindsided by memories flashing across his mind. He held his head and rested his elbows on his knees. Slowly they disappeared, but one remained, growing sharper and clearer in his mind. He was in a forest running for his life. Gagreel and his gang were chasing after him. He knew this memory. He knew it well. He was beaten for hours in the Garden of Eden until he passed out. Once he woke up, he called out to Michael and Gabriel for help. That's how the three brothers became so close.
Castiel saw himself run and hide behind a tree. It was all how he remembered, until he saw Dean running toward his teenage self. That's impossible. We didn't know each other then. The earth was only a few decades old at the time. Then it hit him. He and Dean were now connected telepathically. He was seeing what Dean saw. Oh-no. This is what Dean saw. Castiel was horrified. What was he going to do now? He can't keep his past a secret now. He looked overstated Dean who was passed out on the couch...------
