29-Chaos
Elena's breath froze in her lungs as she recognized the voice behind the gun barrel even as Rysen blocked her with his body. Ronny had found them. Rysen aimed his weapon at Ronny then.
"Like hell." Rysen responded, his body tense. If Ronny had found them then Jackson wouldn't be very far behind. Elena had left her only weapon, the knife, in Anita's thigh and her strength was almost non-existent from losing so much blood. She wouldn't be able to help Rysen.
"You have three seconds before I pull the trigger, Santigo." Ronny said, his voice shaky and unsure. Elena realized then, Ronny wasn't really ready to kill someone. He could beat a girl with people helping him, but he was a coward by nature.
"Ronny, I think it's you that needs to put down the gun." Elena looked over to Mitchell to find him holding his weapon to Ronny.
"Mitchell, if you really want to help, get back to the main house, and get the guards." Rysen said.
"What about Ronny?" Mitchell asked.
"Just go!" Rysen hollered. Mitchell paused, but nodded before taking off into the woods.
"You think that's going to help?" Ronny laughed but Elena sighed in near relief. If Mitchell could get back to the house, then Michael and the other guards would come. They would find Jackson and- but the ear piercing sound of a gun going off echoed around them then, cutting off Elena's thoughts. Elena's eyes widened as time seemed to stop. Neither of their guns had gone off, so how? No, Elena thought.
The sound of Rysen taking in a sharp breath caught Elena's attention and her heart dropped. Even in the moonlight, she could see the blood soaking through the shirt on his lower back.
"Rysen!" Elena called out, catching him as he fell. At least, she tried to. Unbalanced, and weak, she fell to her knees, Rysen barely catching himself on his own knee.
"No, no, no, Rysen!" Elena muttered to herself as she crawled in front of him. He clutched his stomach covering the wound but the blood was soaking through the shirt around it.
"I'm okay Baby Girl, don't worry." He said through grit teeth as he forced his gun to stay pointed at Ronny.
"You were taking too long Ronny." Oh no, Elena thought as Jackson walked out of the shadows. He had a gun in hand, a string of smoke still escaping the barrel. He'd shot Rysen. He had a wicked smile on his face, almost as if he enjoyed it.
"Jackson, please just stop this!" Elena cried out, her voice stronger as she felt rage building inside her.
"Why should I? This is becoming quite fun after all." He said, a laugh floating in the air. The sound of Rysen coughing, and the wetness that landed on her told her he wasn't going to survive if this kept going.
"Fun?" Elena asked, "Everything you've put me through, everything that you've done to me, to the ones I care about, has been fun?!" Elena yelled. Jackson's eyes turned crazed then.
"What I've put you through? What about what you have done to me?! Because of you I had to give up my life. Because of you my parents are dead! How dare you sit there like you aren't the reason my life is in shambles!" He screamed at her, spit flying from his mouth as he did so. Elena shook her head. She wouldn't be his scapegoat anymore.
"I didn't ask for your parents to pick me Jackson! I didn't ask for the accident to happen and I sure as hell didn't ask for you to take over for me. You could've returned me to the orphanage, but you needed someone to be your punching bag because you're sick, you always have been and you always will be. Don't blame me for you being a psychopath!"
