10-The Shopping Trip
Elena felt extremely awkward. She sat in the back-middle seat of the SUV between both Chase and Rysen. If a single soul had told her that within a three-day time span she would have gone from being attacked by her adoptive brother, to being saved by a mob bosses son, then being attacked by his sister, who then dragged her out for a shopping trip, she would have laughed in their faces. However, that was exactly what was happening, and she didn't know how to react. She just felt content enough to roll with the punches.
"So, Elena, why are you so calm after I tried to attack you?" Elena's head shot up a she heard Regina's voice. Her dark piercing gaze caught Elena's and Elena knew she couldn't lie to this woman. With a soft sigh Elena smiled softly.
"I've been through worse." Regina's eyes widened slightly, and she seemed to focus back on the road. There was a silence that fell over everyone as the car continued down the road. Elena became nervous. She had made everyone uncomfortable. Tucking her head down, Elena shrunk into herself, that is until she felt the comforting of heat of two hands on each of her legs. Looking up she found both Rysen and Chase had rested a hand on each of her legs. Chase's hand was gentle, nearly hovering over her sweat pant clad thighs. Rysen's hold was vice-like, gripping onto her leg like he was angry almost.
Elena nearly stopped breathing as she looked up to find both Chase and Rysen both staring out of the window. Her face began to heat up as the car finally came to a stop. The doors opened simultaneously, and everyone stepped out. Everyone but Rysen. He then leaned over her, reaching for her seat buckle. Unbuckling for her, her whispered to her, his breath tickling her ear.
"Don't forget, you're my girlfriend in everyone's eyes. The only people that know the truth are Chase, Harry, me, and you. Got it?" Embarrassed by their closeness, Elena could only nod frantically. He finally backed away, allowing her to breathe for a moment before she hopped out of the SUV. The four of them stood a few feet away as Elena took in where they were at, and when she did, her eyes widened with excitement.
Rysen watched her face transform in seconds and took in a sharp breath, only to hear two more beside him. He looked to find both Chase and Harry watching her intently. He turned back to her, seeing her lips nearly part with her smile but not quite. This girl hadn't shown her toothy smile once since meeting her and it made Rysen want to be to one to see it first.
"What are you so excited about?" Regina asked, not understanding the silent stares from the boys. Elena looked to her.
"I've never been to a mall before! I'm so excited! Let's go!" she squealed as she grabbed hold of Regina's wrist and pulled her towards the entrance. The boys held their breath, waiting for Regina to yank her arm away from Elena, yell at her for being so excited for something that was such nonsense. That's what Rysen had expected. Instead, Regina chuckled and allowed Elena to pull her into the mall. The boys looked at each other.
"Uuh, is that the same woman that pile drove me in the gut the day we met?" Chase asked, a confused look on his face. Rysen shook his head.
"I don't think so man." He said as he shrugged and followed them into the mall, catching sight of them as they disappeared into a clothing store.
After twenty minutes of watching the girls sift through racks and listening to Regina babble on about color matching, both Chase and Harry left to find a store that interested them.
"So, you are just going to leave me here?" Rysen grumbled irritably. Chase and Harry shrugged.
"She's your girlfriend after all." Chase replied with a wave as he left, Harry in tow behind him.
