16-You What?!
Rysen sat on the bed holding a beaten and bruise Elena in his arms as a large range of emotions battled in his mind. The family doctor had finished his exam on Elena an hour ago, verifying that she didn't have any internal bleeding. Since then, Rysen's mother had changed Elena's clothes, tears nearly falling from the woman's eyes as she noticed all of the bruises on her.
"What monsters. Ronny's father will not be okay with this." she'd said.
"Who's going to tell him?" Rysen had asked, a cynical tone to his voice. What mob boss would really care if a rival's potential fiancé got beat up?
"Your father has already left to have a conversation with him with Tristan and Michael as back up. Ronald is not going to be okay with how his son treated poor Elena. Not at all. How did this happen, why wasn't Michael there for her?" she said and her confidence in that statement alone was enough to believe that maybe another mob boss could in fact actually give a damn.
"A girl from school has a thing for me and told Elena I slept with her when I didn't. Elena was upset and gave me back my phone and said she'd leave. I couldn't find her job until it was too late." He said remembering how he'd seen the three of them surrounding her like a pack of hyenas around prey.
"You'd better clarify this with her, and make sure it never happens again." His mother said with a fierce glare then she turned and walked out of the room, leaving him alone with his little Elena. He'd crawled into bed, lifting her head and placing her in his lap. Something inside of him made him need to hold her.
"This is all my fault Elena. If I hadn't been so damn stupid you wouldn't have been put in the position you were in." he said even though she was still out like a light.
The sound of the bedroom door opening caught Rysen's attention as he watched Chase and Harry nearly fall over each other in their attempt to get through the door. When they finally managed to push past each other, they came to a halt at the end of the bed.
"What the f-" Chase started but Rysen put a finger to his mouth, his glare telling the subordinate to shut the hell up. He listened, his gaze softening as it caught Elena's sleeping figure. Rysen felt a nearly unhinged rage at the caring look the two men gave the woman in his arms. That is until Harry's eyes met Rysen's and he saw the pure rage in them."What happened? You just texted us 'Elena emergency'. Don't you think you should have said she was attacked? Your mother is crying downstairs right now and it's because you just had to be an asshole and make Elena feel like she was the gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe. Had you just been a decent human being to her she would've had her phone and Michael would've picked her up! You better fix this shit!" Harry finished, breathing heavily. Rysen had never seen him angry before. He was always the calm and quiet one and his outburst just now was like a nail in Rysen's guilt coffin. Rysen sighed.
"I know." was all he could say. He couldn't be mad at them for being upset with him or being disrespectful to their boss. Because they were completely right. His admission of guilt seemed to shock them into silence.
"Oh...okay. Well, don't let something like this happen ever again." Chase said as he sat on the couch in the corner, pinching the bridge of his nose with a sigh. Harry sat cross legged on the floor beside the bed.
"What happened?" Chase asked after a few minutes of silence.
"Your mom couldn't get out anymore than 'Elena, attacked.' between her tears."
