Epilogue
Elena stood behind the doors, nerves racking her body as she heard the commotion on the other side. She couldn't believe the day had come. After everything we've been through they had survived everything the McGreaves and her adopted brother tried to put them through. Mitchell had done exactly what he said he would and had taken over the McGreaves family business. Since then he had been one of their strongest allies.
After the final incident Rysen was able to recover within a week and go home. Not long after her best friends, Amy and Jamie became part of their circle even though they understood the dangers. Within two years Rysen had taken over the family business himself, and his parents moved to Paris to enjoy their retirement years. Elena had gone to college and gotten her degree in business management to help the Santigo business and they had quickly become one of the strongest families heads in the Santigo history.
They'd had their fair share of uncomfortable run-ins but had always survived and come out on top. Chase became Rysen's personal bodyguard after Travis retired, and Henry had become Elena's once Michael felt he was fit to take over that position.
Now at 24, Elena stood behind the doors that lead to an even brighter future. The piano began to play at that moment and she felt Amy lean into her ear.
"Are you ready?" Amy asked. Elena took a deep breath.
"I've never been more ready for anything in my life."
"That's my girl." Jamie said as he covered her face with the veil.
"Let's get going." Amy said. Elena nodded, and Jamie opened the wood door then.
There, in front of her, stood the man she knew she'd spend the rest of her life with. Rysen Santigo stood tall in a deep red tux, his hair slicked back to perfection and his piercing eyes caught hers in an instant. The aisle of people around her was something she didn't register, because she was focused only on him.
Walking with her shoulders straight, her mermaid style dress fit snugly around her, the tail dragging softly on the ground behind her, Elena walked up beside the man she loved with everything she had. When she was next to him, he lifted the veil, and she could see the wetness in his eyes. His mouth formed a small smile as he lifted her hand and kissed it gently as the music died down.
"You're breathtaking." He whispered to her.
"You're not too bad yourself, handsome." She replied, the same tears blurring her vision. Just then, the priest began his speech but Rysen and Elena kept their gaze on each other. They stood like that, during the speech, their vows, until Rysen said "I do."
When it was Elena's turn, a tear fell, the joy in her heart singing through her body as she smiled. They had met in the oddest of ways, been through times that many people wouldn't ever face or think of facing. Against the odds they had become one of the fiercest couples in the country, and their lives were only just beginning. So when the priest asked her, there wasn't a single moment of hesitation.
"I do." As the priest announced them husband and wife, Rysen leaned down, and kissed her passionately. It was gone too soon, but when he pulled back he smiled.
"I love you, Mrs. Santigo." She would never tire of those words from this man, she knew that much.
"I love you too, Mr. Santigo." She said back, kissing him once more as their lives began again.
___________
We have reached the end of Rysen and Elena's story. I hope everyone has enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it! I know it took some time, but I'm proud it has now been finished.
Of course there will be edits in the future but I hope you all will continue this journey with me in the fourth books of the Brave Series called Her Protector. It will be a little bit until I get it up and on Wattpad, but I hope everyone is excited for our next story.
Much love,
J. Vas
