30-Darkness and Light
Elena walked into the basement, her mind numb as Michael followed behind her. That was until she saw the face of the man that put Rysen in that hospital bed. When she saw him, there was a calm rage that filled her body. He sat in the center of the basement, chained to a chair, much like she had been. His head hung against his chest, unconscious. The wound she'd inflicted in his shoulder was left untreated, blood congealed around it, dirty.
On their way here, Michael had informed Elena that the McGreaves had gone into hiding once they'd found out the Santigo's had survived. Mitchell had disappeared when he reached the house and alerted their men. Elena wasn't surprised. The chances of him being killed simply because he was related by blood to them were high. Anita had been taken care of by Rysen's mother, so the only person that might know their whereabouts was sleeping in front of her.
Elena walked over to the countertop that held every device that could be used to torture this scumbag. She looked around until she found a pair of brass knuckles. The urge to punch him in the face made her grab them and make her way over to him.
"Elena." She paused in front of Jackson, looking up towards Michael, who stood by the end of the stairs, watching her.
"What?" She asked quietly.
"Are you sure you're ready for this?" He asked. Elena shook her head and she felt tears prick her eyes.
"Of course not, but I can't stand by after what's happened." She said honestly.
"We can handle it for you. You are a part of this family, you don't have to do this if you don't want to." He said as he came up beside Elena. Elena looked up at him looking into his dark brown eyes and she knew he would have no problem doing this for her. She shook her head.
"What kind of Santigo would I become if I didn't do this? You were all put in danger because of me, Rysen is laying on the bed because of me. The only person that can do this is me." Elena said as she reeled back her arm, and swung it into Jackson's jaw.
There was a loud gasp as his head swung to the other side of his chest and his head shot up. Elena could see the moment he realized where he was, his skin was drained of all color in an instant even as he smirked.
"Well, if it isn't the little b-" The brass to his jaw cut off his sentence as his head snapped to the side. The echo of a tooth clanking to the floor was the only sound in the basement as blood mixed with his spit hung from his lips.
"You speak to answer my questions, otherwise, I want nothing out of your mouth." He lifted his head then and spit the blood across her face.
"Why so brave all of a sudden? Isn't your sugar daddy dead? No one to hide behind anymore?" Elena didn't flinch. Instead she wiped the filth off of her, feeling the once calm rage billow into something darker. Something harder to control.
She was brought back to all the times he'd beat her, when she was crying on the floor, the bruises and cuts, when he tried to violate her innocence, and finally to him shooting the man she loved in front of her. The image of him in that hospital bed flooded her mind.
Her mouth tilted up slightly as her body trembled, aching and crying out for violence. For revenge. Jackson's eyes widened then, and the regret in his eyes was clear as she brought back her fist.
Elena sat beneath the shower head, the hot water scalding her skin as she scrubbed her body of Jackson's blood. He'd given her the location after losing a few more teeth, weak to the pain. Elena almost wanted to laugh at how easy it had been, but she didn't have it in her. All she wanted was to see Rysen again, but she wouldn't allow herself to go back to the hospital until after this was done.
