Seems like I draft these chapters and then somehow find a photo from nix akimbo that fits the chapter perfectly haha. If you haven't checked them out yet, go do so! They have a Twitter, Tiktok, Tumblr and Instagram!

Buckys POV

Monday finally came around and I started my first day of 'work'. More like just a quick training and introduction to the job. Sending Amelia a text when I left the house since she was already at work herself

Meeting with David again wasn't as bad as I had made it to be in my head. Nerves on edge and being cautious of everything still of course. But the 'training' was simple and easy

That night as Amelia and I prepped dinner together, I told her about it

"So what are your hours? Like, when do you start and end?" She asks, closing a drawer with her hip and stepping back to the stovetop with a mixing spoon

I glance over at her as I grab a set of plates for us, "figured I'd do morning shifts. Open to 2pm." I answer with a slight shrug

"Oh, that's nice. We still get nights together then." She shoots me a soft and sweet smile

That's exactly why I chose that time slot

"And open is at eight?" She raises a brow. I nod as I head over to the table to set it. "Are you Monday to Friday or?" She continues, now turning off the stove burner

"Yeah, and on-call one Sunday a month." I state, rounding the counter and opening the fridge for the Brita pitcher to fill our glasses

She nods, stirring the contents of the pot. "And the pay?"

"Twenty-one an hour. Weekly paychecks." I glance over at her as I finish pouring our drinks and set the pitcher on the table

"Hell yeah, nice!" She cheers, again beaming her beautiful smile towards me. The one that both calmed my nerves and set my heart on fire

As we ate dinner I told her more of what I'll be doing. Obviously security of the lot, keeping an eye out for any shady people walking around, but also helping anyone if they need it. Meaning if they can't remove something from a vehicle, I get to do it and direct them to whatever they're looking for

The first two weeks of my new job were... interesting. Stopped a few people from trying to pocket various parts, all small enough to fit in a purse or pants pocket. They'd argue or complain about the price for said item was over what it was worth. No one dared to get in my face and scream like I've heard they do from the other employees. Some would try to use a lame sad excuse of 'I cant afford this but need it' which surprisingly a lot of them used

It's like they're lying or something

Queue the eye roll

The aiding of customers part was a little more difficult for me. Having to start the conversation and ask if they needed help or whatever. Amelia keeps joking that I'm finally being forced to work on my 'people skills' which, I agree

Still don't like it though

But other than that, decent job. Keeps me both physically and mentally active by walking around the entire lot for hours and engaging with multiple people. Definitely keeps me out of my own mess of a mind most of the day which is nice

Except for today

I'm clammy, and nervous, and my mouth is dry as a bone. Every thought in my head a whirlwind yet simultaneously completely blank. Heart swelling as I look into her wide curious eyes

Now, I'm gonna be honest and it might sound a bit arrogant of me but, I'd say it takes a lot to scare me. Considering a good portion of my life was a never ending nightmare after all. Though it's gotten much better thanks to everyone in Wakanda and at the compound. But especially now with Amelia being such a major part of it
