Young-Mi's POV:

"Ok. So you reached the office right?" I asked Jun-su's friend.

"Yes. I will be proceeding as we have decided. Give me few minutes I will keep my Bluetooth on and tell you about it soon." He replied on call. I and Jun-Su looked at each other and nodded.

After a few moments:

"I am near the wifi's main connection of the router. I will be dismantling it and look into the issue." He informed.

We trusted him for he was an employee there for quite a while now. He video called in a while. We could see he was sitting in a corner and we could see him connecting that thing to his laptop.

"I can see some malware is been installed in this which is sending a connection to the enlisted IP address." He said while he still had his hands on the laptop typing something.

"Ok. Can you remove it for us? I would then look into it. Can you help me install a script that I am sending you right now on your phone?" I asked.

"Yes sure."

I took out a phone and send a text which was programmed to see if our VPN IPs when connected to the Wifi there.

His phone had a ring once. He took it and was installing it. I could see him perform it. Within few minutes it was done. He was a pro indeed. "I have removed it and installed the script. I hope I do not get found out by this." He said and disconnected the video call.

"Oh well, you won't this script is auto-destructive, and when we will get what we want I will destroy it from here." I anticipated.

"Ok. Hope I was a help for a bit." He said.

"Thanks a lot for trusting us and helping us out. We owe you this. We will buy you a meal sometime. Let's meet sometime."

"Yeah sure. See you."

We disconnected the call.

"Woah. You are so cool. I did not expect you to be so prepared." Jun-su said with a surprise.

"Well, it was a piece of cake. I found it while studying those logs. Also, for whom I doing this means the world to me." I smiled and replied. Inside I was thinking of RM.

"Hmm. I get to see new sides of you every day. I am glad I am the one to witness it." Jun-su said. I blushed from inside and tried not to show it on my face while I was sipping the drink we had bought.

"Ok. Then are you done for the day? Shall we go back to the office? It's almost time for our office to open now." Jun-su said glancing at his wristwatch.

"Oh yes. I forgot. Thanks for the food and also for helping me out. It means a lot to me." I said with thankfulness. He smiled with a wink.

I and he parted ways out of the cafe. I got to my old desk doing that same old shit again. This mystery at least brought some wildness and excitement into my life. It had been monotonous for some while back.

The day was just passing by checking emails replying to clients and sorting meetings out while I kept checking logs for the Wifi script that we injected.

I was in a middle of a client call presenting my screen when my phone vibrated and I took out in a gist that it would only be a normal text as I had already checked the phone so many times today and every time it turned out to be a normal company message or some spam messages but this time it was something important.

I opened the message and saw the logs that once again the Wifi was connected with our office VPN. My eyes widened with amazement. It only had one meaning that the script we just cleaned up was not a reverse shell that reconnects anytime the attacker wants.

This was quite alarming in its sense. When I was still in thoughts about this when the client started calling me again.

I got back to my senses and completed the call and everything. I was too anxious to see who it was but I still had people around me and the office off was 1 hour more to go.

I hurriedly completed all the tasks in a rush to do the the thing as soon as everyone leaves the office.

After 1 hour:

Everyone was already off. I took my laptop and checked for the logs. I was correct and my script was perfectly on the notch. I got a VPN IP of our office and it was there in the list. It was connected for a very short while and it meant the attacker found out that we had removed his code from there and he was reinstalling it.

He might not be aware of the fact that we also had our script that notified us of his intruding on the system again like this.

I took out the MAC address logbook that I had just sneaked in today when I was in a meeting. Luckily we had one copy in our office with the network team. So, when I went to ask for a network penetration testing team for a query I saw it nearby and took a copy of it, and placed it again in place to avoid a point of doubt.

This book had all the hardware details of the laptops and PCs in the company. This is one of the audit requirements hence we had logs of this too.

I matched the MAC address that I just obtained when the connection was made. I desperately looked into the MAC and after a while, I found a match.

What was the match she found? Would you like to know who it was? Read on the other chapter to find out the most interesting twist until now.
