Y/n POV

I hummed to myself as I started to walk away from the tree. Donavon will make sure it is taken care of though; I'm not sure exactly how Sonic's friends will react to Tails death. Though I doubt it will be good. I had my duties as glutton but I couldn't just let go of what rick had done. From above me a drone nearly dropped a stack of papers on my head. "Hey watch it you flying tin can"! I said shaking my fist at it. I looked down and frowned. These weren't ordinary paper they were wanted posters! I flipped through them seeing some random faces I could care less about, and that's when I saw mine. "Wait I have a bounty now? Well I suppose it was bound to happen even-". My eyes widen as I see the bounty.

"Five million"?! Even for me that was insane! I took a closer look at the description. Wanted for theft destruction of property murder yadda, yadda. My blood ran cold suddenly as I gazed at the last part. They claimed I was responsible for killing everyone in jump city with some kind of super weapon. "A terrorist? Oh man this isn't good, b-but that wasn't my fault"! Of course they wouldn't see it that way, not without knowing my story. I put my wanted poster in my cloak and kept flipping through them. Finally I found what I was looking for. "It was only a matter of time before rick got one".

The bounty was worth over three million. "Holy hell rick what have you been up to"? Oh, so he really did destroy that city with a sandstorm. Lots of murder here in the city to. So the better question is why his bounty is about half of mine? I tossed the rest of the papers away not caring. Add littering to my wanted poster I guess. I slowly started to walk down the street. No matter what I had to stop rick. This is my determination. Though the question was, where could I find rick?

As if I spoke of the devil himself his face appeared on the television screens in a store nearby. I walked over and broke the glass so I could hear what he had to say. "People of West Point! My name is rick the scorpion! I come from this world like you, though I had to leave for some time. I am the one who had destroyed the city of West Haven"! He had a wicked smirk as my ears flattened against my skull. "I want only one thing, bring me sonic the hedgehog"! I gasped at this as a location appeared on the screen. The tallest building in the entire city. "Sonic the hedgehog, if you can hear me I'm hosting a tournament! All are welcome to participate the only cost is your life if you lose"!

Luckily the underground doesn't get television or radio so he shouldn't hear about this broadcast. Suddenly a horrifying realization struck me. He had to be in a news room using the emergency broadcast system. I can only imagine the terrible fate that befell anyone in that building. "If you want to enter come to the tallest tower in the city! If no one wins or sonic dies then the entire city will be destroyed, just like west haven"! He finished as the screens on the televisions went black.

I curled my hands into fists and growled lowly. "I have to go there". But first, time for a pit stop. I opened a portal to the news stations broadcasting room. Rick was long gone by now. I slowly walked over to the broadcasting system and turned it on; I sat down behind the desk and looked into the camera. "For those of you who don't know me, I am the phantom thief glutton".


Elsewhere shadow POV.

"What do you mean he is gone"?! I barked annoyed. Amy shook her head. "it's just like I told you, glutton shoved me through a portal all the way across town tails got killed by rick and was absorbed into a tree and they kidnapped sonic and about ten minutes later a bunch of moles showed up and took the tree through a giant hole they made in the ground"! I sighed and face palmed. Just when we got all the stuff he wanted done he goes and dies. My ears perk up as I hear the radio in the x tornado flare to life. "What's that"? I asked walking over. Knuckles who was sitting in the cockpit turned it up. "For those of you who don't know me, I am the phantom thief glutton".

Everyone was taken aback. Glutton was on the air waves. "None of you may trust me, but rick will not let this city survive, the hero known as sonic is safe for now, I don't intend to harm him however, rick the scorpion has killed miles tails prower, Sonic's loyal fox companion". I felt a bit remorseful for leaving him behind in the alleyway, but everyone else seemed mortified at the news that they already knew. "Rick the scorpion wants sonic and company to fight him on top of the tallest building in the city, but I have a favor to ask you all. Let me face rick alone and evacuate the city"!

We all exchanged glances and listened to the broadcast some more. "Please, let me do this for those who have fallen to this madman's wrath, he can't be allowed to escape"! I watched as Amy and knuckles got into the cockpit of the x tornado. "Where are you two going"?! Asked silver as they started to x tornado up. "To do what they said, we have to evacuate the city, but first we need to make a speedy delivery so please, start helping with evacuation efforts". Said Amy. knuckles had the look of other plans.

I didn't bother asking him as the x tornado lifted into the air and took off. I heard people rush out of their homes as evacuation efforts were starting to take effect. "Well? What are we waiting for"?! Said silver as he flew away to help them. Blaze followed soon after and I shook my head. "This is a stupid plan, they better not die". I mumbled as I took off to help


Y/n POV.

I sighed and turned off the broadcast then quickly opened a portal to the highest building in the city. Hopping through I landed on a helicopter pad. The building it's self was at least 2435 ft high in the air, the altitude alone was enough to make someone afraid of heights nearly have a heart attack. "I wasn't hoping for you to show up, how are you"? I snapped my attention to rick who was sitting on the opposite side of the roof he stood up and stretched cracking his neck. "So what makes you think you can defeat me glutton"? He asked eyeing me up and down. "Our last encounter ended badly for your friends, especially my last encounter with tails".

I clenched my fist and growled. He was obviously baiting me; needless to say it was working. The situation was gloom compared to the bright sunny weather around me. The wind blew harshly making my cloak flutter erratically in the wind. "Why, why would you kill tails? Why are you even trying to kill sonic"?! I was starting to get mad. "Why, the better question is why not? This is what we were made for, yet you protect him. I don't have some edgy reason like I want revenge for the life I no longer have since I was experimented on. or I'm doing this for the other planet I rule for the sake of taking this worlds resources oh no, no I'm doing this for the sake of what I was built for, to stop a threat and get some laughs on the way, nope totally in it for the sake of a good time"! He smirked and bowed slightly

"you see I'm not the bad guy, I'm just doing what happens to be my job while also doing what I want so that's two birds with one stone"! The sound of sirens blared as civilians began to evacuate out of the city. "That won't do, I won't have leverage against sonic". He held up his hand to attack and I froze him by taking control of his shadow. "I won't let you hurt anyone else". I said determined. He growled and unsuccessfully tried to move. "Heh, you look pretty frustrated about something, guess I'm good at my job, huh"?

He growled lowly then smirked as I felt the ground beneath me move. I jumped up as a sand spike as big as a car nearly impaled me. He laughed as the spike fell apart. He had hidden sand under the helicopter pad leaving a massive hole in it. "Clever, very clever". I said giving a slow clap as I released his shadow, unable to hold it any longer with my concentration gone. He chuckled darkly as his right arm shifted into a sand sword. "I'm going to take my time killing you, glutton". I quickly used a portal to clean all the sand from the roof before he charged me; I jumped up high into the air dodging a slash that cut a pole in half. The pole rusted soon after landing on the ground as sand and dust.

He held up his other hand making a finger gun gesture. "Bang"! He yelled as multiple sand bullets shot out towards my body, I made portals appear sending them all elsewhere. While I was distracted he got behind me and tried to impale me on his tail. I opened a portal and the tail went through and came out another one stabbing him in the head, his skull turned to sand as he jumped back letting it reform to reveal a snarl on his face. I didn't hesitate and opened a portal shoving his head in it. "Guillotine"! I closed the portal decapitating him.

His body stumbled and fell down, the slowly got back up as his head grew back. "You don't get it do you glutton"? He asked making his pincers extend out of his wrists. "I can't die"! At that moment the ground beneath my feet shifted and I stumbled nearly falling over the edge of the building. My eyes widen as I saw the very bottom of the building being crumpled away by sand. "Where are you looking"?! Said rick as he slashed me across the back with his pincers. I screamed and moved through a portal falling behind him. the wound wasn't deep and didn't hit my spine but it hurt more than it should have.

He smirked as he snapped his pincers at me. "That's right; I covered my claws in small dosages of poison from my tail"! I felt my breathing gets a bit slow as I fell back, slightly winded. "Of course that was a tiny dose! Wait for the real sting"! He growled and charged me tail poised to puncture my chest. Using my quick thinking I pulled off my cloak throwing it at him. He swiped at it with his claw turning it to sand and kept charging, but I was gone. His eyes widen as he stopped at the edge of the building, I was now behind him and smirking. He whirled around and I pulled out my neko-te. "You fool glutton that will never work"! He laughed as he made his arms extend into long columns of sand to grab me. "Shadow claw, Gatling"! I shoved my claws through portals tearing apart his sand arms but also rusting my neko-te in the process, they fell apart to dust blowing away in the wind.

"You idiot you missed"! He said as arms grew back. I smirked under my mask. "Who said I was aiming at you"? The ground began to give way underneath him, while he was focused on the portals in front of him he didn't see the portals that appeared by the ledge behind him. He gasped as the ground gave way; he fell off the building screaming at the top of his lungs till he went splat on the ground far, far below me. I breathed a sigh of relief and fell back winded. This venom wasn't much so it wouldn't affect me too much. Though the pain seemed to worsen over time if that was possible.

The building began to tilt. I had somehow forgotten about the sand eating away at the base of the building! The building began falling towards somewhat shorter skyscrapers. I could see it from here, the city was almost fully evacuated I had to hold out for just a little bit longer against rick! I jumped over the side of the building and started to slide down it as it hit one of the other skyscrapers breaking off the top half of the building. Rubble rained from above hitting glass windows around me, I leaned changing direction dodging the large pieces while the rest of the rubble fell to the streets, where rick should have been.

Suddenly from the windows in front of me rick appeared looking absolutely furious. "You look like you had a bad time"! I yelled jumping to one side as he brought a sand axe down cracking part of the building turning it to sand. How does that make any sense? He growled and gave chase as I quit sliding and began to run down the building. He fired multiple sand pistol shots at me all missing and creating holes in front of me to jump over. I could use my shadows to warp down, but I still need to save my power. "Don't drift off pay attention"! Said rick as he was now above me. He turned both his arms into giant hammers and brought them down on me. I feel like I deserve this after doing it to someone else, though currently the memory eludes me as my skull cracks while the rest of my body smashes through the building crashing through floor after floor till I reach the bottom.

I roll into the street, every bone in my body broken as I puke blood letting it poor through the holes in my mask. With every ounce of determination I had, I got to my feet. I'm not sure if it was the venom in my veins, but I saw Mephiles in front of me chuckling. "Don't die yet, hero. Keep rick talking for just a bit longer, I promise everything will be alright; take a listen through the ringing in your ears. What do you hear"? He then vanished as rick appeared 20 feet away from me. I listened as he said, and then heard it. Utter silence.

"Quivering and shivering, if I fall I let every living thing die". I said choking the words out. Rick seemed to smirk at this. "Yet here you are, falling down glutton". His tail swayed dangerously behind him as he began to walk around me. "THOUGH MY HEART WANTS TO FIGHT FREE, I CAN'T HELP FALLING TO MY KNEES! IT'S OK IF I DIE HERE I KNOW YOU'RE DOOMED TO YOUR FATE! BECAUSE WHILE I KEPT YOU HERE THEY MANAGED TO EVEACUATE"! He froze in his tracks. Listening to the area to find utter silence, the evacuation had been a swift, successful one. "With the hope I have left, this world will live on, I know it"!

I shakily brought my manriki chain out, and then fell over writing in pain. His face was written with pure rage. "Heh yup did my job wonderfully". He dashed over and impaled me in the chest with his stinger. I gasped as the world began to spin around me. "I'm not going to just drain the life out of you glutton, I'm going to watch as my poison tears you apart". He hissed out reaching for my mask. "I want to see the life drain out of you on your own face". I flung my manriki chain at his head but he grabbed it. "Get some new tricks". He said as it rusted to dust. This was it, I had no weapons left. I had bought enough time for everyone to escape.

My ears twitched as I heard the distant roar of the x tornado above me. I looked up as rick started to peel off my mask, to see a blue figure jump from the plane's wing. Was that sonic? No, that thing was a different color blue. I suddenly blanked out. As the person descended rick looked up because he felt a drop of water hit his head, he dropped the unconscious Y/n jumping back. "Is it raining"?! He glanced up at the sky, just in time to see a long fist, made entirely from water hit him dead center in the face, but his body didn't turn to sand like you would expect. He went down like a ton of bricks breaking the street as chaos the god of destruction descended from the heavens and had arrived to join the fray! Rick groaned as he felt pain, course through his body for the first time in years.

the x tornado landed as knuckles jumped out along with another echidna, Tikal was her name the orange echidna rushed over to the badly injured, most likely dying heroine and gently picked her up, while rick stood up to confront chaos. He examined him eyes wide. His body was made entirely out of some water like substance. The normally passive god of destruction charged rick and slugged him right in the jaw. Nearly knocking rick out cold. he retaliated by turning his hand into a sword and swiping at chaos's brain but he dodged and grabbed the sword arm unaffected, covering his arm in water it became useless and revered to wet sand, basically a useless mud.

Rick growled as he lifted up his other arm turning it into an axe. He cut off his muddy arm with it; letting it flop to the ground he turned into sand and flew away on the wind. Chaos started to give chase but Tikal called after him. "Chaos stop! We need to get this girl to a medic immediately"! Chaos walked over as knuckles looked clueless. "Phantom thief glutton is a girl"?! He cried out confused. The rest of Sonics crew soon arrived. "None of us are fast enough to get her the help she needs". Said blaze examining her wounds. Just then sonic came through a sewer lid spin dashing into the street. He stopped in front of y/n and quickly put his head down on her chest to find a slow, barely audible heartbeat.

He carefully picked her up, hoping to not injure her worse. "Sonic what the heck are you doing let her die"! Said knuckles. Sonic glared at him and said in the coldest voice he could. "I won't lose anyone else, especially not someone I love". Everyone went silent as sonic ran off with her at top speed, heading for the hospital. He prayed that he could make it in time. "Hang on y/n, this time I'm returning the favor". What sonic didn't know was Tikal and chaos gave chase after sonic, they weren't about to let her die either. Not after knuckles told her and him exactly who she was. This was a race against time; one that sonic couldn't afford to lose. For if he lost this race he would lose something more valuable to him than anything. The girl he had fallen in love with.
