Sonic POV.

I was running as fast as I could, when I finally saw that city my heart skipped a beat with joy! Then immediately fell into a pit of sorrow. I slid to a stop at the outskirts of the city to witness the destruction. Broken cars, flames and smoke yet even after all this time burned brightly. I had heard this place was once a town for mining is all the coal really still burning? I walked along a highway as ash fell from the sky coating my blue fur turning it grey. "Pogo never told me about this, but I can feel it. Chaos radiation as he called it is everywhere". I walked past a car with the burned corpses of a family cradling each other in the front seat. My heart sunk even further seeing this. "These poor people, caught in the experiments of their government, the things they did to Y/n must have been horridness".

I quickly moved on feeling like at any moment I could lose my lunch. I wiped the visor of my helmet then looked at my map. "The center of the city looks like I'm going to have to run through all this hell". I folded the map and quickly took off towards the center of the city. I passed hundreds of dead bodies on my way there. No way would Y/n do any of this, not willingly at least. Suddenly I caught the color of something yellow out of the corner of my eye. I came to a halt and turned my head to see two yellow tails disappear behind a corner. "That couldn't be him". Regardless I ran around the corner to see nothing. "I must be seeing things; this place is a special kind of hell hole".

I dashed off going back on track. This place must be playing tricks on my mind, perhaps this chaos radiation stuff is actually getting to me". My ears twitched as a building off to my right started to come down. I stopped and braced myself as a cloud of ash and rubble came my way. I wiped off my visor to see the outline of tails figure in the ash. "TAILS"?! The figure quickly jumped down and ran, so naturally I ran after it. This shadow had to be him; I don't know any other two tailed fox. It ran into a large open space with dead trees. There seemed to be bodies on benches and a grey pond. This was probably a park.

"Sonic over here"! Said tails as he stopped in a wide open space in the middle of the park. My heart skipped a beat as I ran over. "Tails"! I was about to tackle hug him at the speed of sound but I stopped. This was right. "Who, are you"? I asked as he frowned and tilted his head. "The tails I know is dead! I watched him die he died in my arms"! I was starting to get angry and rightly so. He smiled and held out his hand; suddenly his glove tore and out came a large spike. I side stepped it but it scraped the side of my helmet. "Oh dear, and here I was hoping you would fall for it". Said the tails fake angrily. He crossed his right leg in front of his left as he retracted his blade arm then extended both arms to his side as he leaned forward slightly. This guy was doing some kind of bow.

His skin suddenly started to change as it tore its self from his body becoming long strands of yellow. My eyes widen as I see his form change into a red crocodile. "You were expecting to find your dead best friend, but it was me Dio"! He shouted as my heart sank. "You're supposed to be dead morph"! I said getting into a fighting stance. He raised an eyebrow. "Who the hell is morph"? Was this guy messing with me or did he loose his memory like y/n and rick did? He then made the long strands of yellow retract into his body. "None the less, the words on those documents and the video's tell me one thing; you are a threat to all mobian kind"!

He motioned to all the destruction and bodies around us. "Let me say this, the destruction you have caused by letting your dark form take control is unacceptable"! I gulped and waved my hands franticly. "Hey bud you got it all wrong I'm not the one who did all this"! He growled and raised his fists. "Your lies almost seem truthful however; I'll kill you and avenge everyone here"! I bent my knees. "Bring it on"! I said smugly as I took off running at him. I tackled him but passed through his body. I do a back flip to gain some distance then skid along the ground to see his body reform the hole I just punched through him. Damn so this guy is just like rick, though if he is like rick there has to be a way to physically hurt him.

I looked around for anything to use, that's when I saw a statue. "Wait a second". I pulled out my map and held up my hand to pause the fight. He seemed dumbstruck by this. "You have a lot of nerve to look away during a fight sonic"! He charged me and I side stepped him sticking my foot out. He tripped and face planted into a tree. "Hey that's the statue on the map"! I said with glee. He rubbed his nose and growled. "Pay attention hedgehog"! He roared. "Can't talk I have to go save my friend"! I zoomed over to the statue and rubbed my hand against the words inscribed there about this city's founder. "Here it is". I said as pushed a few letters. The statue moved and a hidden stairway was revealed.

I heard fast footsteps behind me. "Sorry I don't have time to fight you"! I yelled and zoomed down the stairs. I suddenly heard a thunderous crash. I turned my head slightly to see Dio mutating into some kind of amalgamate. From my time on Chris's world his body became that of a wolf, it had hundreds of faces growing and shrinking along the body. Sharp limbs protruded from the body and forelegs that dug into the walls, the eyes of all of those faces are all focused on me. The center of its massive head split down the center to reveal a large mouth with razor sharp teeth and a long snake like tongue. It roared and began to charge me using its limbs to keep up with me speed, which was hindered do to the terrain of random conveniently placed objects in front of me.

"Holy hell dude you are trying way to hard"! I yelled as it tried to clamp down that disgusting mouth on me. "This is too much nightmare fuel, and you sir need a mint"! He roared and I slid under a desk in the middle of the hallway. "Why is that even there"?! I jumped back up just in time to avoid being impaled on Dio's claws. I zipped around hallway after hallway until I took a sharp left and hid behind a cabinet. He zoomed past me and nearly knocked it over as he went straight down another hallway. I breathed a sigh of relief once he was gone. "Guess he wasn't using his nose, though I'm lucky I had this conveniently placed cabinet, otherwise all those eyes would have seen me". I suddenly began to question why I was stating the obvious and even questioning my luck.

I began to quietly walk down the hall. "This place has to have a map". I glanced around and went into a room with a bunch of test tubes. "Damn it, come on I need to find that sample". I began to tear open file cabinets tossing around papers randomly. "Sonic please help me"! I heard the voice of tails cry out far in the distance. I clenched my fist and took a deep breath. I'm going to make him pay later, but my focus is the sample. I pulled out a file labeled rick. I tore it open and began to speed read through the pages. "So everything is on the bottom floor when it comes to experiments". I mumbled to myself. I started to head towards where I believed I saw a stair case. Please be alright y/n just hang on a little longer.

Tikal POV.

This world is so different then from when I was around. We didn't really have many homeless or any that I knew of. No one had to pay for anything, we usually traded with our neighbors and helped each other out, and everyone had a home. Chaos touched my shoulder and I jumped. "Oh, I'm sorry I was thinking again". I smiled and looked around at this make shift hospital as they call it. He nodded and motioned towards the room y/n was in. I slowly nodded and decided we should do this before sonic came back. I opened the door to see the sleeping cheetah. I hold out my arms as the seven chaos emeralds fly from my body. "The chaos emeralds, each of them able to create unlimited energy, each with the power to bend reality using one's mind. They feed off the darkness or the light in one's heart. Nothing shall be impossible when all seven align with one's heart".

Chaos tapped me on the shoulder. "My apologies, I'm beginning to monologue again aren't I"? He nodded and sat down lowering his head. I did the same then close my eyes letting the emeralds connect our minds and souls with y/n. I opened my eyes to be met by red and green ones. I did not jump as I stood up. chaos and me were standing in an endless void of darkness. "Well, it's a surprise to see you alive after so long Tikal the echidna". He said crossing his arms. Needless to say his appearance had changed over the years. He politely bowed. "To what do I owe the honor oh guardians of the master emerald"?

Before I could open my mouth he raised his hand. "I was trying to sleep, and I already suspected your intentions so correct me if I'm wrong". He put his arms behind his back and began to slowly circle us. "the problems I have had with your clan, it seems that the rivalry and hatred passed from your father has finally come full circle however, very much unlike your father, you intend to actually be able to use the chaos emeralds to absorb the chaos energy flowing through y/n and perhaps erase me, then do that to rick as well and remove his powers"? He chuckled and stopped right moving and stared me dead in the eyes. "That won't work, the chaos energy was used to revive our ancient DNA though unwittingly also reviving the souls of the deceased and fusing them together as an amalgamation".

Crystals matching the colors of his body began to slowly form and rise from the ground. Chaos was about to act but I held my hand out in front of him. "You are half correct, this is not my father's hatred but my duty to protect the master emerald and this world, and I came to make sure you could never harm anyone ever again". I said in a calm yet stern tone. He chuckled and reached his hand out. I didn't flinch as he reached a bit lower as the crystals grew into the shapes of roses. He broke one off and lifted it up to his face sniffing it. "I intend to be present in the mind of y/n, to live this in reborn life and see where the world takes me, I shall observe it as if I am a powerless god. Knowledge only I would know kept inside my mind as the world ignores my omnipresence". The crystals shattered along with the rose in his hand into purple dust. "What I mean is I shall be an observer".

He turned his back on us then glanced behind him. "Yet from what I am seeing y/n is on the verge of becoming overwhelmed by deaths embrace, her last battle has left her drained and injured beyond the repair of any normal mobian, thank whoever is listening that medical procedures in the future enable accelerated healing". I sighed shaking my head. "Even know sonic is most likely heading towards the facility which used to house us, though he will be unsuccessful so long as he runs around in circles like a chicken with its head cut off". He chuckled darkly before turning his gaze towards the void. "Though you know what I find fascinating"? He teleported and was mere inches from my face. "The tree that was brought into the underground, as the dark I can feel the light and life energy, and it radiated with it".

"Are you perhaps curious about it"? I asked keeping a calm tone. He tilted his head and walked towards chaos stopping a few feet away from him. "Ah but of course, it's an abnormality after all". He slowly walked away from chaos walking off into the darkness vanishing completely. "I'm done talking, be gone with you". I closed my eyes and reopened them to find myself inside of the hospital. The chaos emeralds floated back into my possession as I stood up looking back at chaos. "Something is not right; y/n should have also been within her own mind, so why did we not see her"? He responded with a tilted head. He wasn't exactly a talker.

I began to walk out of the room with chaos. Not noticing the small root that was piercing y/n's wrist. Its roots connected with her veins replacing the bags that gave her nutrients with its own. Energy from the planet and the life within it flowed into her veins like life support. It connected her with the unseen force that connects all life. Suddenly she found her self-awake and breathing heavily, though not in the hospital. She was in a meadow filled with flowers and trees as far as the eyes could see however, one tree stuck out like a sore thumb.

Y/n POV.

"Where the hell"? I gazed around and looked over my body, seemed like I was in a hospital gown. "Why am I in this"? I rubbed my head trying to remember what happened. I grunted as a headache hit me like a ton of bricks. Flashes of my battle with rick raced through my mind. "d-did I die in a hospital after the fight"? I glanced at a tree on top of a hill in the distance to see two figures underneath it. I slowly stood up and began to walk towards the two figures. It appeared as though they were dancing with each other. It looked like they were doing the tango. As I got closer I began to make out features. A male two tailed yellow fox and a girl with red buds poking out of her head. What I assume was part of her body appeared to be white petals with green tips. On her chest was a red jewel or something to that extent. Her blue eyes almost mirrored her dance partners.

"T-tails is that you"? I asked in shock. I really was dead wasn't I? They stopped dancing as I approached and he smiled. "That's me, oh and I was so surprised to learn you were the phantom thief"! He smiled happily. I rubbed the back of my head. "Yea, well I gave it my all in my last fight, now I'm here with you and, I'm sorry I don't believe we met". I said looking at the green haired girl. She smiled and bowed. "My name is Cosmo the seedrian". She held tail's hand. "I would be his girlfriend". I smiled happily. "Also you aren't exactly dead, just having a near death experience". Said Cosmo as she looked me up and down. "From what tails told me I thought you would be taller".

I groaned and face palmed. "Oh ha, though what do you mean by near death experience"? I asked sitting down. "To tell you the truth, you are dying yea, but sonic is doing everything in his power to save you". Said tails. I looked at him expectantly. "Oh right not what you asked, well one of the roots from our tree grew into your arm and are feeding you enough nutrients to survive, your dying in a hospital bed and we are making sure you have enough to survive for just a little while longer, it's also connecting you with us spiritually". I slowly nodded. "I still don't get how that works but for the sake of me being alive I'm going to roll with it". I hopped up and smiled softly. "Sonic has been heartbroken without you, lost even". He lowered his head and frowned deeply. "Hey, would you do me a solid y/n"? He asked lifting his head back up with a soft smile.

I smirked. "Anything little buddy". I say trying to mimic Sonics voice he laughed a bit and smiled in response. "Tell him I said hello and I'm doing just fine with Cosmo". I nodded and smiled. "Well, why don't we exchange stories while we wait for the blue blur to show up"? They both smiled and sat down. Hurry up sonic I'm not too great with social interaction. I prayed silently to myself that he would be successful.



Sonic POV

I managed to sneak through the entire facility through the vents. It seemed like Dio wasn't looking in there for me. I kicked a vent door open and dropped down onto a tile floor. I got up and looked around seeing three large glass pods attached to machines. "This must be where they had those three in stasis". I said blowing cobwebs off name plates. "Yup this is what those are". I turned around and started to explore the room. I found a door to a side room and tried to open it. There was no luck in that so I got a running start and rammed the door down. There was an obvious loud thud. "Well if anything would tell him where I went". I mumbled to myself as I zoomed around looking for the poison. I found a section labeled scorponok and began to franticly search through it. That's when I found dosages of his poison in his section. I was so happy I kissed the vials they were kept in. "now to get you guys to those doctors"!

I started to run for the door only to find amalgamate Dio blocking my way. He snarled and opened his twisted mouth. "Hey big and ugly think fast "! I kicked a rock towards his head but he just moved his head slightly. "You missed me hedgehog". He growled out in a low almost demonic tone. I narrowed my eyes as the stone hit a barely functioning light system and broke it, the lights fell on top of him and he fell to the ground struggling to get up. "Wow this place is falling apart fast"! I smirked and ran passed him as fast as I could. Though that was weird, I expected his body to act like ricks. Is it possible that his body isn't physically the same? I shook my head and ran as fast as I could towards the surface zooming right out the front door taking off with a sonic boom towards west point. "Hang on y/n helps on the way"! I'm going to have to add all this other stuff to my list of things I don't want to do again. Such as come to headstone city.

Though behind me I failed to notice as I ran out of sight that Dio had made his way to the surface. "Oh sonic, cat and mouse? I hate playing games but I will see you soon enough again". He walked behind a building as his shadow changed to a smaller form. "Yes, we will see each other very soon at west point". He chuckled and vanished from sight. Gone like a ghost in the night.
