Counting the days, Ambria had been stuck in here for almost a month. The walls are now boring, the white floors weren't as surprising, and the work was getting tiring. Overall, the routine was getting worse and worse everyday.
About every Monday every week a new group of people came in most likely all taken the same. Kidnapped. Today was Monday, so Ambria expected a new group but instead it was a new crowd. Ambria looked around, normally it was a group of twenty but for some reason today it looked more like hundreds.
"What is happening?" Ambria asked, no one in particular. "We only usually get new groups on Monday. Plus, why are there such big groups? We normally only get fourty kids each time, this is more like a thousand."
Ambria's hand shot up as she spoke. She lifted her hands in the air as she said thousand, and smacked someone right in the face. They all turned to see a boy, rubbing his nose where Ambria hit him. He looked so confused, his eyes wandering. He gave everyone a slight smile, his eyes lingering on Sky, who stared right back at him.
"Oh, no," Ambria started, feeling embarrassed, "I'm so, so, so sorry. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just got kidnapped, am apparently the new kid here, and plus to add it all up, just got smacked in the face by someone gesturing to her friends like a crazy person."
Ambria looked more and more embarrassed with every word.
"Wow, he is handsome." Sky blurted out, wide eyed, staring at the boy in a black leather jacket. She clamped her hand over her mouth, and turned around, so no one could see her anymore. His brown hair was shaggy and hung over his light brown eyes. She paused. She blushed, realizing what she had just said, and turned back around. "I just said that out loud didn't I?"
"Yep," Brielle said, who was now standing closer to Carson. She must've thought this was adorable, watching it like it was her new favorite TV show.
At the same time the boy replied, "Yeah. Yeah, you did."
Sky looked so embarrassed, "Well, I thought only embarrassing moments like this
happiness in books. I guess I guessed wrong."
The boy chuckled slightly, but they both looked fairly awkward. He was about the group's age, about sixteen or seventeen, though he was the height of an eighteen year old. He was basically a foot taller than Sky. Speaking of Sky, she still looked so embarrassed, her pale cheeks still had a remainder of pink from her blushing. Ambria couldn't figure out if she was blushing from embarrassment or affection, probably both.
... -.- -.-- .-.. .- .-.
(Sky's POV for something a little different)
Sky stared at the boy across from her. She still was embarrassed even after multiple minutes of waiting for her blush to die down. Skylar let her blonde hair cover her eyes, avoiding contact with Greylan. Sky really did think he was cute, though Sky always thought she wouldn't have a crush on an actual person. All her other crushes since fifth grade were fictional characters.
She had sworn off guys for years due to the fact that all boys were stupid and were never going to be as awesome as fictional characters, like Keefe Sencen and Carswell Thorne. Even Ron and Harry are better than the boys in all Skylar's classes. Any fictional character is better than none.
But once she saw Greylan that entire thing about swearing off guys like Athena went away. Sky knew it would never happen, so she looked down and tried to forget his existence. Greylan was so different from Sky. The only thing they were the same so far was that they both are socially awkward. Sky is shy, and Greylan isn't, and from Sky's guess he wasn't a bookworm like she was.
Skylar looked up again now that her blush was gone, she gave a shy smile towards Greylan.
"I think we got off on the wrong foot. I'm Skylar, but you can call me Sky." Sky said, stepping forward, and ending the awkward silence that had started. Then shrinked back, realizing everyone's eyes were on her. Greylan just smirked back.
Ambria stepped forward, taking the attention off of Sky, who Ambria knew didn't like the attention on her.
"I'm Ambria. This is Harper, Brielle, Carson, and Jax. Normally Bryce is with us, but he isn't today-"
"Yeah, and hasn't for the past three days," Brielle reminded everyone, "What is going on between you two?"
"I know...," Harper hinted, then stopped after seeing that Ambria was giving her a deadly death glare.
"Nothing," Ambria said a little too quickly. Obviously the new kid was confused, Ambria turned back to him and continued on, "Also Hudson and Julia are usually here too, but Hudson disappeared to who knows where, and Julia... recently died."
With Julia's and Hudson's name, everyone seemed to shrink. No one knew what happened to Hudson, though most of them didn't think he was exactly dead yet. Harper sobbed quietly, and Sky took a step towards her to comfort her and pulled Sky closer.
"It's gonna be okay," Sky whispered into Harper's ear quietly, then Sky glared at the boy once she realized he was staring at her.
"Well, nice getting to know everyone. I'm Greylan," the teenager, Greylan, said, finally breaking the awkward silence that had started. He finally reached for Ambria's hand that was still up and shook it. Awkward.
Sky smiled to herself, enjoying how Greylan was fumbling to gather himself.
She didn't expect to find love while she was kidnapped, and her friend just smacked the person in the face on accident.
She also hadn't even imagined to find love ever in her life, but now that she had found it, she already couldn't imagine life without it.
