Walking away from Cory was the hardest thing Bennett had to do. His gut wrenching sobs and screams for forgiveness and love felt like a dagger to his heart, but he knew that for himself and for Cory, time and distance was needed.

How much time and how far, he didn't know, but for now he needed distance. He needed the calm of his previous life, his life before Cory, where he had control over himself and his emotions. He'd let a teenage dream get in his way, but now it was time to close that chapter and concentrate on his plan for the future. The future that he'd spent all his whole life working on.

Cory kept calling after him, as Bennett turned and left, his shouts and screams echoing through the cavernous building.  All he could do was look at the empty space where Bennett had been. He had never been as miserable before. No, he'd never felt as afraid and alone.

Afraid that he'd never see Bennett again and that all his monsters and insecurities would return when he was no longer in his life. All of it, everything was thrown away by his own hand, his own stupidity. Realising that Bennett wouldn't come back, he bowed his head, as if tired, and sobbed silently for the love that he'd lost.

He didn't even look up when Blue's men untied him. Seeing Blue's sneakers in front of him, he finally raised his head: "Are you happy now?! You've broken me! Everything, you've taken everything from me!! What more can you possibly want?!!!" Cory screamed at her, knowing it wasn't true, but he needed to lash out and blame someone else, and at the moment Blue was the closest.

She sat down in Bennett's vacated seat. "Now you know what Ben felt." she sat back and crossed her legs. "It doesn't feel that great does it? Life's unfair isn't it?" she mused looking him over. Leaning forward,  she brought her mouth close to his ear.

"I didn't take anything, that was never yours. So don't put this on me. My sin was allowing someone I love to get hurt. But you, your sin was hurting someone you love." she shook her head in disgust. "An unforgivable sin." she said barely loud enough for him to hear.

Getting up, she  turned to leave, but stopped to turn back to him. "I promised Ben that I wouldn't interfere with your relationship, what ever that means to you, from now on, but mark my words Cory, this was your last warning. There will be no next time." She strolled off, calling behind her, "Oh, my guys will take you home!" she waived and was gone.

Cory sat shaking on his bed. That was the most out of world experience he's ever had. The bleeding cross over his heart, was still stinging him, staining his shirt, but at that moment he didn't care. He needed that pain to remind him that he was alive to remind him of the hurt he'd caused Bennett. He wasn't sure if it was the shock of what had just happened to him, or the fact that he may have lost Bennett forever, but he felt sick to his stomach.

He let out a gut wrenching scream, throwing his beside lamp across the room. It hit the wall with a satisfying explosion of glass. His insides felt like they were turned with a pitch fork and that his heart had left his chest. It was difficult to breathe, especially when he thought of Bennett. But he could also not ignore what Blue's word meant. His sin, his unforgivable sin. He needed to make it right, but he can't make it right with Bennett, before making it right with himself.

Cory sighed, a million thoughts running through his head at the same time. There was a glimmer of hope in Blue's words, though. Something he would cling on to, because it might mean that he had a chance again. Instead of making him happy, he was daunted by the thought of getting through to Bennett after what he'd done. He needed Bennett to understand that he was changed, that he needed another chance. But saying it to Bennett won't be enough. That calculating mind will close off all its secrets and build another wall to keep everything in. No, what he needed to do, was to show Bennett.

With that realisation, he turned on his phone and dialed a number he rarely called, "Catherine?"...
