Bennett woke up pinned down, unable to move. He slowly opened his eyes and smiled. Cory's leg and arm were possessively wrapped around him. He tried to extricate himself from Cory's limbs without waking him up, with very little success. Just as he was trying to slip out of Cory's grasp, he was firmly pulled down again. Turning to Cory, those deep dark brown, almost black eyes looking intently at him.
"Can I call you mine now?" Cory sleepily asked, not letting go of Bennet's gaze.
"I thought we were friends?" Bennett countered, sure that the answer was yes, but still afraid to put it in actual words.
"Well, after last night, I think that we are very, very good friends, which means I can call you mine, you know. And since I'm your friend I should be allowed to do so."
Smiling at him, Bennett reached over to brush the stray lock of hair out of his face. "Then we can be friends for a little while longer."
A frown appeared on his brow at those words: "When are we going to be more than friends?" he reached out his hand to take Bennett's and brought them to his lips.
"We still have a lot to work through Cory." he sighed. "I want it to be easy, I really do, but I also know that it won't be." He sat up looking at Cory. "We have a somewhat coloured past," he continued. "Let's take things easy for now, okay?
"But I want to tell the world that you're mine!" he roared, also sitting up. "You know that I'll protect you, no matter what. And I'll do anything, even if it means I have to do it for the rest of my life, to make up for everything that I've ever done to you." he beseeched, almost desperate for Bennett to understand.
"I know Cory..." Bennett rested his head against Cory's shoulder, who immediately proceeded to pull him into a tight hug. "...but I'm afraid..." he trailed off. Cory didn't say anything, knowing that Bennett needed to sort through his feelings. Also realising that things were not going to be as easy as he had hoped.
"I won't push anymore, I promise. I am here waiting patiently in the wings for the man of my dreams to give me a wink and a smile and say yes!" Cory smiled at him, his hand lazily stroking Bennett's arm.
"My pushy bull." Was all that Bennett said with a sad smile on his face, before getting up.
"Do you perhaps have a shirt or something for me? Cory asked with a smile, not missing the sadness that had swept over Bennett. "Somehow I lost all the buttons on the one I had yesterday." he wiggled his eyebrows lustily. " or we could just stay in..."
Laughing at the hopeful look of his, Bennett threw him the biggest t-shirt and sweater he had. " I hope it fits," he said, knowing they probably wouldn't. In the end, Cory gave up trying to squeeze himself into Bennett's clothes.
"Do you mind if we stop at my place so I can change my shirt?" he asked, picking up his shirt. Bennett's eyes raked over him, standing in black slacks, with his shirt hanging open. 'Can this man get any hotter?' he wondered to himself, a slow heat building in his groin.
"Stop looking at me like you are ready to devour me!" Cory admonished, pulling him in for a slow kiss. "I won't be able to control myself you know." he lifted his head, planting a chaste kiss on his lover's forehead.
Once Cory had put on a fresh set of clothes at his house, they were on their way to school.
"Cory?" Bennett broke the comfortable silence between them. He'd been thinking a lot about the implications of dating the football captain. He didn't need the intrusive buzzing that would fill every moment of school.
"Hmmm?"
"Could we keep this low-key for now? - Silence - "I-I just think it would be best for now, you know until things are a bit more... sorted...." he trailed off, chancing a glance at Cory.
