(RK's POV)
I sat inside the car with Madhu. I switched on the ac. It was getting hot inside.
"RK....I'm feeling cold." Madhu said.
"And I'm feeling hot. Deal with it." I fanned myself to prove a point.
Madhu crossed her arms and let out a huff. Just like a jungli billi. I liked it. A few minutes later....we heard wolves howling nearby. Madhu grew pale.
"R....RK....what was that noise?"
"Wolves."
"What?!" She freaked and reached for the car lock system.
"No need to lock the door. Wolves can't get in."
"Why? Is this wolf-proof car? I don't believe you."
"You have two choices: either stay in the car or get out." I said, pointing outside.
"No! I'll stay in here." She recoiled back into her seat.
She hugged her knees and buried her head in her arms. The howling ceased a long time ago.
"Madhu...The wolves are gone."
"Huh..?" She got up startled, like she had woken up.
"Were you sleeping?"
"I guess I was. Don't know when I dozed off." She fixed her hair.
"I'm going outside to get some fresh air. You can sleep."
I opened the car door and stepped outside. The breeze was soothing. I leaned against the car and got lost in thoughts.
(Madhu's POV)
My throat felt dry. I needed water. I looked around the car for something to drink. Eventually I found a small bottle if water hidden in the glove compartment. I opened it and gulped it all down. The aftertaste was extremely bitter. Was this water? My head was spinning, and my eyesight was blurry. What did I just drink?
(RK's POV)
I heard the car door open. Madhu stepped out, her steps were wobbly and she looked like she was drunk. I caught her before she tripped on the car wheel.
"Heeeeeelllllllooooo RK......You saved me again." She was slurring her words too. Great.
"Are you drunk, Madhu." I couldn't help but ask.
"Drunk?! Nnnnnnnope." She shook her head.
"I don't believe you." I said.
"I only had.....what did I have..?" She thought to herself.
"Oh yeah! Water.....but it was bitter. Hehe...bitter water."
Water? I was confused. There were no bottles in the car that she could have drank from. I opened the door and checked. There I found my plastic water bottle that I sneak vodka into. It was empty. Shit......
"Whatcha ya doing RK?" Madhu asked, hiccuping every second.
"You drank my vodka?!"
"I did?......Sucks to be you then." She laughed out loud.
"Madhu....get in the car!" I ordered.
"No!" She ran down the road, sticking her tongue out at me.
I ran after her and picked her up in my arms. She started screaming.
"Someone help me! He's kidnapping me!" I hurried to the car.
I held her hand and opened the door.
"Nooooo RK.....I want to play." She said.
"No. You are staying here." I forced her down into the car seat and fastened the seat belt.
I went to my seat when Madhu unfastened the seat belt and hopped out again. She was smart, even while she was drunk.
"Tata bye bye superstar. Mmmuuuuahhhh" She blew me a kiss and ran off into the wolf infested jungle.
"Madhu wait!" I ran after her. I hope she had life insurance. Not that I thought she would die or anything....
I spotted her running into an abandoned cottage nearby. I went after her.
"Madhu wait." I said again.
I reached the entrance of the cottage and saw Madhu spinning in circles, her arms spread out like wings.
"Look RK, I'm a butterfly." She said happily. "A pretty butterfly."
I couldn't say that she wasn't. She was looking pretty. I grabbed her arm and pulled her close too my chest. A small breeze flew thorough the open window, blowing her long silky hair along with it.
"Will you kiss me again superstar?" She asked innocently.
"Please!!!!!!!!! I liked it when you kissed me at the party."
I pulled her close and crushed my lips onto hers. Her lips were soft and sweet. I sucked on her lips slowly but passionately. I never felt this feeling before. It was new and exciting. I was so lost in the kiss, that I found myself sticking my tongue into her mouth. She broke away, giggling.
"You naughty boy." She said, turning to escape from my clutches. The doori of her blouse was caught in my watch. She blushed tomato red.
"RK.......please fix it." She said.
I took the doori in my fingers and tied it. She giggled like a little girl everytime my fingers grazed her bare back.
"RK....I'm sleepy."
"Me too." I yawned.
I decided to stay here with Madhu until the mechanic came in the morning. I lit a small fire and we both lied down on the like of hay. Madhu cuddled up to me and used my chest as a pillow. She dozed off in a couple minutes.
Just as I was about to fall asleep, Madhu woke up startled.
"Madhu....what happened now?" I said rubbing my eyes.
"I don't know RK....everytime I sleep....I hear a loud thumping sound. Like some thief is breaking into the house."
"A thief? You are the thief."
"Really? What did I steal?"
"You stole my heart." I don't know why I had said that.
"Then why aren't you dead yet?" She asked.
"I don't know."
"Maybe I didn't steal it hard enough." She found a knife in the corner of the room and tried to stab me with it.
"No Madhu!" I prepared to kick it out of her hand, but instead Madhu fell to the ground, out cold from the alcohol.
She looked so different while she slept. No anger, no tension. She was as innocent as a baby. I found a wool blanket and covered her with it, while lying down next to her.
