Hiya. :D The song for this chapter is "The Hanging Tree" by Jennifer Lawrence. :) I thought it really fit this chapter well. I'm sure you can all guess why.

Enjoy. :)

Chapter Ten

The next morning, I woke up to realize that I was hugging and incredibly soft and comfortable pillow.

And I also came to realize that THE PILLOW IS MOVING!

I jumped, sitting up with my eyes wide.

I looked down to see Murphy smirking at me. "Well hello to you too."

He was laying down on one of the blankets that I had made into a makeshift bed, his hands behind his head and his ankles crossed.

"Was I laying on you the entire night?"

I pretty much knew the answer. When I slept, I was like a rock. I didn't move a single inch, meaning I must have fallen asleep like that. Plus, I'm also a light sleeper. I would have easily woken up if he moved.

He smirked. "Yeah. You were." He sat up like I did, yawning a little and stretching.

Suddenly, he furrowed his eyebrows. He put his hand at his belt, then looked around the bed.

"What's wrong?"

"I can't find my knife."

I sighed. "Here," I handed him one of my extra knives. "If you lose it, I'm going to take two hours out of my day to carve a stake just so I can stab you with it." I muttered. I was not a morning person.

He nodded, smirking. "I'll try not to lose it, then."

A lot of people were still asleep, so we had whispered the entire time.

We decided to go outside.

A few hours later, everyone was awake. Something had happened, I could tell because Clarke looked really broken up. I got sick of not being in the loop, and decided to go and ask her myself.

I followed her into the drop ship, which was now completely empty except for Monty, Finn, and Clarke.

Clarke was wiping at her eyes.

"Clarke...?" I said, slowly stepping in. "What's wrong?"

Clarke turned back to look at me, her eyes now puffy and red.

"Wells..." She whispered, and I instantly went forwards.

"What happened?"

"The grounders happened." Finn said, looking to be a mixture of both angry and saddened.

I walked towards Clarke, wrapping her in a tight hug. She sobbed into my jacket, and I rubbed her back silently. "It's okay." I whispered, but I wasn't even sure about that.

Wells was a good kid. Sure, his father was an asshole, and he may have had a different mindset than most of us, but he was good. He was innocent, and his intentions were pure.

I would miss him.

Suddenly, Jasper came running into the drop ship. "You guys have to see this." He said, panting.

We all started after him, until I heard a loud voice that I knew all too well. I sighed, and walked towards the middle of the camp instead.

"Hey!" I watched as Murphy walked over to some kid, Conner I think. He had fallen forwards while carrying a tree trunk. "You think the grounders are just gonna sit around and wait for us to finish the wall?" He pointed over to another kid, one of the younger ones. Charlotte. "Maybe we should let the little girl do the lifting for you, huh?"
