"Oh my!" She exclaimed as her eyes stared down at her now wet dress. She wasn't sad about the wet dress but naturally one wouldn't be comfortable in wet clothes."I am so sorry! I didn't see you there. I sincerely apologize." She heard a male voice say to her but she didn't look at him, her eyes still on her dress. When she did glance up at him, his hands were clasped together in front of him, his head bowed to the ground. Y/n held his hands, which made his gaze meet hers. The man was extremely handsome, his face looked like that of a royal. He had a somewhat round face, brown almond eyes, plump pink lips, broad shoulders and his skin looked flawless.
"There is no need to apologize to me, it was an accident." Y/n told him calmly as he simply nodded his head.
"My name is Kim Soekjin, but everyone calls me Jin. I'm the castle gardener, and you are?" He asked inquisitively.
"My name is y/n." She replied with a smile on her lips. Y/n saw him purse his lips together, as if he was trying to remember something. And he was. Jin knew that her name sounded familiar but he couldn't place his finger on it.
"Well y/n, I'm really sorry for spilling water on your dress. I came to water the plants and I didn't see you there honestly." Jin said while rubbing his nape awkwardly. The metal watering can was on the ground.
"It's okay, besides I can just change it." She said while giving him a warm smile. She found him familiar but she didn't know where she saw him. He picked up the watering can before he continued.
"So I'm guessing you don't work here in the palace cause I haven't seen you around here before. And believe me when I say I never forget a face, especially a pretty one." Jin said while returning the smile.
Heat crept up to your cheeks at his compliment, "No," she said while playing with her fingers, "I'm actually from the town."
"Really? So why are you here?" Jin questioned. Maybe she is one of the prince's concubines.
Y/n explained the whole dilemma to Jin. From the taxes, to the Prince asking her to stay in the Palace as compensation.
"Wait, wait, wait," Jin said after her story. He looked as if he was in deep thought, "So let me get this straight, the prince said that you should stay with him for a month?" She nodded in response. "And your brother's name is Jungkook?" She nodded again. "Y/n!!" Jin said while pulling her into a big hug. Her body was stiff in the hug because she didn't know why he was hugging her. She just met him. Jin released her from the hug and placed his hands on her shoulders, "Look at you, you are so big now. You've grown into a young lady." Jin said, smile still as broad as ever.
The only thing that was on y/n's mind is that maybe Jin had lost a screw up there, or maybe even two.
"Sorry, you might not remember me, I'm your brother's friend." Jin clarified, noticing her confused face.
"You're my brother's friend?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes I am. We've been friends for...." He let go of her shoulders and started to count his fingers which didn't seem like he was going anywhere, "A long time, but we haven't seen each other in...well...a long time."
She felt a bit comfortable with Jin now, if he was her brother's friend he is bound to be a good person. "But how is he? My brother that is."
"He is okay. He is coping at least. He couldn't bare to sleep in your house, so he came over to my place." Jin replied, saying half of the truth.
Sure, Jungkook was staying with him but the doe eyed boy was anything but fine. Jungkook could barely get a wink of sleep because he was so worried about her. He wondered why the prince would want his sister. There was nothing special about her! And poor Jin had to suffer because Jungkook kept on complaining in the night. He told Jin that he should check up on her on his behalf.
