The bonfire was burning a bright flame which Jungkook could not help but stare at. He did not understand why but he felt like touching it just to see what happens. He also wore his hood of his cloak on his head but his face was a bit visible.
His heart ached in his chest as he thought of y/n. This was the first Moon Festival celebration that he would be celebrating without her. Normally, she would have been dancing her heart out to the sound of the Grogian music the locals were playing on their instruments or maybe she would have happily shared with the poor people. Jungkook could only wonder how sad she must be in the palace with the heartless soon to be king.
He hated the moon Festival.
Everyone knew that but no one knew why.
At the thought of the crowned Prince, Jungkook balled his hands into fists out of anger and took in a deep breath to relax his nerves. He let out a shaky breath and stared at the marked tattoo on his hand. He still could not believe he had joined a cult. A group that wanted blood.
Blood of the crowned Prince, soon to be king of Grogia.
The whole reason was to bring an end to the suffering of the Grogians. It seemed like a just cause but was it really worth killing the King? With every word the cult said, Jungkook started to see things from their prospective. The king took his sister. His only family. Isn't that enough for him to be seen as heartless?
He grabs the little wooden cup on the table and pours himself some of the locally made alcohol. He just felt like drowning himself in it tonight. It was like his responsibilities were becoming too much for him to handle.
As Jungkook was deep in thought, a male figure stood beside and also poured himself work of the grape flavoured alcohol. Jungkook glanced at the man and noticed his hood was also up but when he glanced at his fingers which were wrapped around the cup, he immediately recognized him.
"Taehyung? What are you doing here?" Jungkook asked as he stared at the man wide eyes and all. The male instantly turned around and was met with the wide doe eyes of Jeon Jungkook. Once the man realized it was only his good friend, he seemed to relax visibly.
"Jungkook. You gave me quite the scare." Taehyung chuckled deeply while Jungkook smiled softly, hitting his back in a friendly manner. "How are you doing?"
Jungkook's eyes that were once filled with excitement warped into that of sorrow. Taehyung could not help but feel bad for bringing up his wellbeing. The black haired male knew his friend, Jungkook, very well. He did love his sister and was always very protective of her, especially if she was around incredibly handsome men. Jungkook treated y/n like a fragile egg. But Taehyung knew she was anything but fragile. Y/n was a strong woman. She tackled problems head first and was never afraid to speak her mind...which did land her in trouble sometimes, but still. She was unlike any other woman he had met.
"How is she?" Jungkook managed to croak out.
Taehyung sipped his drink quietly as his eyes stayed on a person in a cloak, who was dancing happily with another person. "She is happy." He said without thinking.
"Happy?!" Jungkook's brows pulled a confused. "Why would she be happy with him?"
Taehyung turned to Jungkook with wide eyes, after realizing what he said, "I meant happy that you are safe." Jungkook nodded once more and took a big swing of his drink. It burned down through his throat and left a bitter aftertaste.
Suddenly, he turned to Taehyung and asked, "Is she here with you?"
The noble knight almost spat out his drink. He gave the man beside him wide eyes before composing himself again. "Wh...why would she be here?"
