Y/n blinked her eyes at the news she just heard. She was a bit confused because she knew that the king didn't die on the day of the moon Festival. The news that the king had died came on a random Saturday, which astonished many people and made them mourn for their king.
"I was only sixteen years old when he died." Jimin added but her face only warped into more confusion.
From all she had heard, that definitely is not true.
"But...I thought the King died about a year ago." She stated with obvious confusion lacing your voice.
The prince realized that y/n didn't know what he was talking about. He dropped his spoon on his plate and carefully got up from his chair. "I would like to show you something." He said quietly, walking out of the room as the girl followed suit. She didn't know where she was going but she was curious.
Jimin led her to a room in the basement of the huge palace. It was dusty as if no one had come down there in ages. The room was relatively big as well. It was filled with coffins of dead Kings and queens, some of the names written on the caskets, she had recognized and others she didn't. The coffins were set near a wall with each of their paintings placed on it. She could already guess that this was the ancient royal burial grounds.
Suddenly, the prince stopped walking which caused y/n to bump into his back. She was about to question him when she laid eyes on what he was staring at. It was a painting of the late king and queen, so she assumed the coffins underneath it was them. Y/n tiptoed a little bit closer to it to get a better view.
"As you must already know," Jimin began with a solemn look on his face, "my mother died when I was born. Most of the royals from other kingdoms saw me as a curse because they knew how much my father loved my mother. They said that I took his one true love away from him."
Y/n frowned at his words. She didn't understand why people had to think that way. He was just a child when it occurred, so why blame him?
"But my father," He chuckled, remembering the sweet memories, "he showered me with so much love. He believed that even though my mother was dead, she left him with the best gift in the world....me. He never forgot to tell me how much he loved and cared for me. But, sadly, the one thing that brought me so much joy was taken away." His voice grew a bit deeper as he said those words, his fists clenching in anger as he spoke. Y/n only watched him silently as he went on, "Frelk and Grogia had been rivals for a very long time and my father wanted to change that, so he always gave them peace treaties. But they never listened to him. There came a day, the king of Frelk accepted my father's invitation to Grogia and brought his son along. Yoongi and I became friends that day but something else happened."
He paused, as if trying to remember something, which made y/n watch him in curiosity. She was fully aware that he was about to tell her something not everyone knows. But she was questioning why the prince would trust her so much to tell her this.
Why was he being so vulnerable?
"I remember that there was a new servant in the palace. He looked very suspicious the day I laid eyes on him but if I spoke to anybody about it, who would believe me? I was only thirteen years old. His name was...Sunghoon. But my father seemed to trust him a lot. He stayed in the palace for three years and became my father's closest and most trusted servant, which was only second to Sir Kim, Namjoon's father. He was my father's advisor. During the annual moon festival, Sunghoon was called into my father's bedroom to help him get ready." He let out a laugh, "I find it funny that I remember my father's death so visibly."
Y/n could see the hurt in his eyes as he laid his hands on his father's casket before speaking, "Sir Kim had instructed me to tell my father his carriage had arrived. He was supposed to greet the people and look at the year's harvest. But when I went into his room....I saw the most horrid sight." Jimin took in a deep breath, "I have never seen that much blood in my life. My father's body was on the floor and Sunghoon was standing above him with a bloody dagger. I wanted to scream, run, speak...do anything...but I could not. Sunghoon held me down and tied me to the dresser...making me watch as he tortured my father. He wanted...my father wanted to tell me something before he died...I never got to find out what it was because he was brutally slaughtered by Sunghoon."
